JEJU ISLAND

Even at the last minute, Seri looked at Jeong Hyeok with eyes filled with worry.

"Yeobo, are you sure it's a good idea?" She asked, before zipping up the massive pink suitcase filled with baby products-- baby clothes, diapers, and towels of all sizes— that bulked up the bag.

Jeong Hyeok only nodded with a reassuring smile, wheeling the other two smaller suitcases to the door of their room. He did a double take when his eyes drifted to the twins. "Yeobo, you might forget this."

"Oh, right right!" Seri went over, retrieving the little blankets with a giraffe and an elephant drawn into it. Seri was about to open the pink luggage once again to pack it when her newly acquired maternal instinct told her they might need it for good measure.  "Yeobo, can you slip this inside our carry-on? You know how they can't sleep without it."

"Sure." Jeong Hyeok gave her a quick peck on the lips out of habit.  He took the blankets and held the pink suitcase up— How her husband managed to wheel the three suitcases while also holding a blanket is beyond her. "I'll load this in the car if you're done, Yeobo."

The moment the door clicked, her baby girl sobbed.

She hurriedly went over to their marital bed where their little twins are sleeping. A bolster pillow in the middle separated the girls. This looked like a very familiar scene in her life—  two people separated by a line, and she would've chuckled with remembering her disdain of everything that are divided by a line or border, if only she's not rushing to take her child in her arms so that she'd stop crying and don't wake up her sister in the process.

But it's too late- she sees Seol-yi shifts in her position while Seol-hee cries in her arms. Seri lightly swayed her body back and forth to console her crying child, but twins really do have something telepathic going on, don't they?

Seol-Yi started sobbing softly in their sleep and all can Seri do is plead to her twin girls, "Omo... Please don't cry..."

As if on cue and like every other time in their life where he found her, her knight-in-shining-armor or rather, her knight-in-a-gray-trackpants-and-a-white-shirt entered the room immediately when he heard their children's sobs. He picked up Seol-Yi in his arms, and the moment she snuggled to the warmth of her Appa, she immediately stopped crying.

"She's such a Daddy's girl," Seri remarked, jokingly narrowing her eyes at her husband in mock annoyance that he has a better grip on parenting than her.

"Seol-hee loves you more." Jeong Hyeok replied as he peered on the little ball of sunshine in his wife's arms, noticing a small upturn on the baby's soft lips while she sleeps when she hears her mother's voice.

Seri's eyes turned into two huge comical hearts while her insides became mushy as the marshmallows drawn on their children's pillows.

They are their little angels- no matter how much the toddlers wreak havoc across their home whenever they're awake.

"Are you sure we can do this?" Asks Seri to Jeong Hyeok when he lays Seol-yi back to the bed again. Seri did the same to Seol-hee.

The lovers laid on the edge of the bed looking at their little bundles of joy, when Jeong Hyeok's arm crept up to her shoulders to pull her closer to himself. "Did you know what I promised the universe when.." Jeong Hyeok stops for a while, inhaling the top of her head for a moment. "..when you were in a critical condition after seeing me at the NIS?"
