Alice woke up to the sound of a crash on the floor. Her head was booming with pain and her gaze was shifted. She placed her hand to her head and let out a groan.
"Oh Alice..! Sorry for waking you." Hermione said in a hushed whisper as she picked a couple of books off the floor and placed them back up onto her nightstand.
"No, no it's not you... i've got this killer headache." She said reassuringly.
"Well i'm not surprised considering the... conditions of last night."Alice shot a glance at her clock; 7:40. She still had 20 minutes before breakfast started. Thank god.
"W-what do you m-..." She stopped herself, a flash memory of Fred, George and herself rushed through her mind. Her breath hitched in her throat.
"The party?" Hermione prodded while putting on her tie in the mirror.
"Fuck..." Alice said not so under her breath causing Hermione to swiftly turn around and face her.
"I mean... yeah!" She over exaggerated stretching her arms over her head. "It was great!" She said loudly and got out of bed, changing into her uniform.Their dorm was empty, so they had the privacy they wanted.
Hermione frowned and turned back to face the mirror, now putting on her stockings.
"So... what happened?" She asked suspiciously."I honestly can't remember that much." She lied, throwing her hand to her head once more. "That's what alcohol does to your brain i guess." Alice put her hair in space buns and did her simple makeup she always did.
Hermione finished dressing and went to the girls bathrooms to brush her teeth.
"Meet you in class! I'm not hungry!" She called down the staircase as she made her way to the first lesson of the year. Timetable, wand and books in hand.
...
"Alastor Moody." The big, strange man said as he stood in front of the bewildered class.
"Ex-Auror..." He wrote "Moody" messily on the chalk-board behind him, then through the chalk to the side.
"Ministry malcontent... and your new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. I am here because Dumbledore asked me. End of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?"His googly eye darted to everyone's white face. Alice couldn't help but stare.
"When it comes to the dark arts, i believe in a practical approach." He said darkly. Ron shot an anxious look to Harry who'm he was sitting next to. Hermione did the same with Alice.
"But first... how many of you can tell me how many Unforgivable Curses there are?"
Seamus was chewing his gum violently as a way of coping with his boredom."Three sir." Hermione quivered.
"And they are so named?" He asked, writing again on the board.
"Because they are unforgivable," she continued, Alice snorted at the obviousness but ushered straight after. "The use of any of them will-""Will earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban, correct." Moody interrupted. "Now the Ministry says you're too young to see what these curses do- I say different!" He faced the board, back to his students. "You need to know what you're up against!-"
Seamus took out his gum.
"You need to be prepared..."
He reached his hand under the desk.
" You need to find another place to put your chewing gum besides the underside of your desk Mr. Finnigan!" He yelled without slurring his words. Everyone turned to face him.
"Ugh, no way. The old codger can see out the back of his head..." Seamus sighed facing his desk mate.
Moody whipped around and flung his chalk at Seamus, barely missing his face.
"And hear across classrooms!" Moody added, angered.
