Levi's final fight

Onto the huge skeleton structure, where the remaining bits of Survey Corps were currently located, was happening the fight over humanity's fate. They didn't have any choice but to find and kill Eren. It wasn't going well, they already lost Armin and Pieck seems to be badly wounded. Levi doesn't know what to do, he wishes Erwin would be here with his plans and schemes he always seemed to hate.

An explosion was heard in the distance. It could be anything, no one really knew what's happening, it was chaotic. Maybe Pieck finally succeeded in blowing up the titan's nape, but what if she was caught in the explosion? The rest couldn't go check, they'd die on the way.

Levi tried to think about a way out of that mess. He looked up, it seemed like he was asking his dead comrades for help. "I'm sorry everyone, I should've been better", whispers the tired soldier as he charges with his gear to look around and find his subordinates.

His wounds were still in a terrible state, one of his eyes had to be under a bandage, but he needed the full view, so he didn't have a better idea than just rip off the bandage. "I'm probably not gonna make it out alive from here, so why not enjoy the full view for the last time",he thought for himself while he tried to hold back tears forming in his eyes.

He spotted Mikasa, slaying down one of The Nine Titans, trying to get to the nape of this massive structure. It was actually very pretty weather that day, you could see thousands of titans flatting their way into the rest of the world. He had no choice but to smile at that sight, he remembered Hanji. She'd love this if she was still here. This was a sight none of the Survey Corps has ever seen, but a tear rolled down Levi's cheek as he was mumbling something to himself.

He was interrupted from his thoughts by someone screaming at him. He got lower, landing on Annie's shoulder, because she was the closest to him. He looked at the bone structure, noticing a little girl just standing there. "No, I can't think about this right now, I gotta find Zeke", said the dark haired man into the void. His current goal wasn't even defeating Eren anymore, he just wanted to fulfill the promise he gave Erwin a long time ago. Who'd guess it's already that long. It still feels like it happened yesterday. The soldier sighs, regretting telling Erwin to give up and die.

After that, he searches for who called him, but he can't find anything, so he flies up in the air again and goes to the nape, where he thinks is the point of action. That's where he finds his remaining subordinates struggling with surviving another second. He immediately heads to help them out, there still were all of them. He was just killing another historic cart titan, when he lost track of himself.

His view went blank, he felt like puking, but a strange sense of calm poured over his body. He remembered falling, hearing voices calling for him, screaming. One of his last thoughts was: "I'm gonna miss those brats'', before fully blacking out. He didn't wanna go, not yet. He felt like he didn't do enough to earn the right to die. He didn't fulfill the promise he gave to Erwin, he wasn't even close to it! His ears were ringing, his life flashed in front of his eyes. He saw his mother on the bed, right before she died, Kenny rescuing him and teaching him how to self defense, leaving the underground and joining the Corps, losing his friends, comrades, subordinates.

He felt like he finally stopped falling. Did he land on something? It felt like a pillow. After a couple seconds he finally had enough courage to open his eyes. Confusion was strongly radiating from his small body. First thing he did was to touch his face. The wounds were gone. How in the hell could that happen? It would leave massive scars. He looked around, seeing his beautiful mother, who looked extremely worried, Kenny with a look of pity in his eyes that he's never seen and so many others. His friends, comrades, Hanji, who he thought died and Erwin, who Levi couldn't look in the eyes, he felt like he betrayed the tall, blonde man. He felt like Erwin died for nothing, because of him.

He still wasn't quite sure where is he and why. So he asked: "Where the hell am I guys? Where is the skeleton like sculpture, Mikasa, Jean, Annie and the rest of 104th? I need to fight!" His mother looked at her boy and with tears in her eyes, quietly, like if Levi would shatter, said: "Levi, boy, you don't have to fight anymore. You can finally lay low now, it's over." Soldier in his mid 30's didn't wanna believe what his mother just said, so he looked at the person that never lied to him, Erwin, who despite all Levi's expectations, just nodded.

His fight was over. He'll never finally kill the brat that ruined his life in so many ways. Most importantly, he will never fulfill the only promise he gave someone in a long time. He thought that once he dies, he'll be finally able to rest, but he felt so much guilt and shame in himself for letting all of those people die. He could've saved them, it was all his mistakes, his miscalculation. No one but himself blamed him for what happened when they were alive.

For a long time, he couldn't look anybody straight in the eyes, his mind was always travelling back to the freshly adult ones that he left behind to fight. He wanted to know how he died, because that information was given to him, it's the only thing he couldn't remember for the love of God. "Where is Armin?" asked the soldier. He didn't see Armin down there, he was eaten. But the blonde precious boy wasn't even here. It surely wasn't easy for Levi. Hanji walked behind the man, trying to talk to him. Not a lot of time passed since they've seen each other, but Levi couldn't look at her. "We don't know where the 15th commander is. We haven't seen him, he wasn't here. I would know if he was." They didn't know how to tell them that. It was painful. "So he probably is in the paths realm. Is it possible Zeke is there too?" mumbles the soldier.

He was tired. He isn't alive anymore, how could it be possible to be tired, he thinks for himself. Levi still didn't believe how could this happen. All he hoped for was to not see any of those brats here for a long while.

Hi, Kei here, this is my first one shot, so if you have any complains or objections, please lemme know. For me, this is a heartbreaking concept and I can only hope it will not happen in the manga. See you in another book, sending love.
