The Ground

January, 2010

It was the first time coming back to the ranch since my wedding. I missed coming here on my honeymoon but I got to spend so much time with Erik. I wouldn't change that for the better.

As I walked on the dry ground, I remembered all the times I was here as a teenager. I would fall asleep under the stars with my dad right next to me. The conversations I had with myself were the greatest I ever had. Just me and him, no one judging.

I reached the marble plaque, reading what it has always said

Cliff Burton

Thank You For Your Beautiful Music

February 10th 1962- September 27th 1986

I sat down quickly ready to tell him my news

"Hey dad! Sorry I haven't visited you in a bit, but I have a reason for that. I got married to Erik!"

"You should of seen the ceremony, it was so cute I can't even. The honeymoon was equally as cute"

"I really wish you were here, then I could get a response" I said in my mind.

I continued talking with him happily until someone who I have never seen just came up to me

"Hey, you must be a huge Cliff fan, I can't believe they let you in"

"Umm, thanks?"

It was awkward for a couple of seconds until my favorite employee walks up to him

"Hey man. Sorry I haven't told you yet but she's his daughter. I'll explain a little later'

He looked at me like was the antichrist , then walked away in silence.

"Hey Cathrine, we just hired that guy. Since he doesn't know you of course he made an assumption"

"Yeah, I could tell" I said while stroking my black hair.

"Well nice! See ya!"

"Bye"

I looked over to the plaque one last time saying to myself "Goodbye daddy, you're the best". I then promptly sat up, my green eyes looking fulfilled, and walked to my car.
