Chapter 14: Minecraft cows

Kokichi's POV

After Shuichi's defeat we walked back a little further and found a tiny breakfast area with outdoor seating. This took up the rest of the back of the ship so this was the last thing we could explore up here. Both of us were pretty hungry though so we sat down to eat before continuing our adventures.

It wouldn't be a day here on this trip if we didn't run into Kyoko and Makoto would it.
"Oh hello! We were a little worried something happened when you guys left yesterday and never came back." Makoto approached us.
Shuichi and I both just looked at each other, we both knew what happened. We didn't really attempt to fix anything either. I guess we both just needed time to think before we could see each other again. We're fine now.

"Nope, we're fine, just wanted to look around." I replied.
"Ah ok, I see, I thought I heard you two fighting as you were leaving. I must've been mistaken." Makoto pondered. It was obvious he knew something happened but it didn't seem like Shuichi wanted to tell him.
"Anyways, you two seem fine now. Whatcha doing today?" Kyoko asked.
"Nothing special, just exploring." Shuichi answered.
"I beat Shuichi in shuffleboard!" I smiled.

"Oh yeah, that happened." Shuichi laughed.
"Someone seems competitive." Kyoko laughed.
"Oh yeah, I'm super competitive." I laughed back.
"That'll work out in the end I'm sure." Kyoko whispered in my ear. My face for a quick second got red before I was able to repress my emotions again. I luckily don't think Shuichi noticed.

"What are you two talking about that we can't hear?" Makoto asked.
"Nothing sweetie, nothing important." Kyoko pat Makoto on the back and walked off.
"Well I guess I should get going then too, you two have fun today," Makoto started walking away, "not too much though!"

"Well they're always fun to talk to." Shuichi commented.
"Yeah, lots." I rolled my eyes slightly.
"What'd she whisper to you?"
"Nothing nothing, just about how being competitive will help me with the guy I might like."
"No fair, Kyoko knows but I can't!"
"She figured it- yeah, sorry."

"What we're you starting to say there? Did she? Figure it out?" Shuichi questioned.
"No, just a poor choice of words."
"Oh, ok." Shuichi sounded sad when he said that. I don't know why it matters to him. If Kyoko figured it out and we just met here on the ship it would be obvious it was Shuichi. So I had to lie to him. Not like I haven't before.

"Why can't you tell me?" Shuichi begged.
"You won't tell me yours either." I looked at him.
"That's different."
"Not really. I guess it's embarrassing, or I know the person and you're afraid I'd tell them. You know what, I'll make you a deal. If you tell me I'll tell you." I smiled at him, he would never tell me so there's no reason to not add some kind of tension.
"Deal." He shook my hand. "It's the same the other way around right, like if you tell me I have to tell you as well?"
"Sure, that makes it more interesting. Let's add more!"

"More? Like what?" Shuichi tilted his head.
"If you figure it out you have to tell me, or if any other outside force tells you who it is. It's only fair. Vice verse as well, if I figure it out I'll let you know."
"Sure. But I want to let you know you sound awfully sketchy and I'm sure you're an amazing lawyer."
"I am, thank you for acknowledging it." I smiled.

"Where are we off to now?"
"Hmmm maybe downstairs a level? I wanna beat you in more games and remember there's a small arcade."
"Right! An arcade! Oh you're going to be the one going down!"
"Ohhh those are fighting words Saihara!"
"Ok! Challenge accepted Ouma." We both smiled and made our way downstairs.

I personally think it's important to check out the prize counter first and see what you might want. Gotta set a ticket goal in mind you know. I saw a giant fluffy Minecraft cow stuffed animal and decided I needed it. It was a ton of tickets though so I was going to have to try my hardest.

"Whatcha looking at?" Shuichi walked up next to me.
"The cow." I pointed. "It's necessary."
"Ah I see."
"What do you want?"
"I don't need anything, just here to have fun I guess."
"Lameee, you have to want something Shumai!"
"Hmm." He looked around. "I guess that stuffed animal is cool." Shuichi pointed to a small bunny stuffed animal.

"Ah, I see another man of stuffed animal culture."
"Yeah sure, you could call it that. Not something I need though. Again, I'm just here to have fun with you." He laughed.
"Come on! We'll never get the prizes if we don't start playing!" I grabbed his hand and pulled him over to the first fun game I saw.

We spent several hours just playing games and spending time with each other. I've always wanted to go on an arcade date, this fulfilled my wishes even if I shouldn't consider it a date. The whole time was really fun. Turns out Shuichi is really good at Dance Dance Revolution type games.

"Give me your tickets, I'll go get your cow." Shuichi offered.
I handed him my tickets, "I don't think I have enough but that's ok." I smiled. "At least we had fun."
"But you were the one who insisted that I needed to pick out something I wanted- yeah sure, I had fun too." He smiled back.

Shuichi walked off to the counter and I left the arcade for a bit. There was a small room with ice cream nearby.
"I got your cow." Shuichi handed me the big stuffed animal.
"But I'm like 85% sure I didn't have enough-"
"I didn't want anything anyways. Plus, it's worth it to see you happy with the stuffed animal you wanted. And you have to take it, it's the rules." He pushed the stuffed animal into my arms.

"No fair! That was really nice of you! I'll make sure to make it up to you!"
"You don't have to make anything up to me." He smiled.
"I feel bad though." I squeezed the stuffed animal.
"Simple, don't." Shuichi ruffed the top of my head like I was a child. I guess I was hugging a huge Minecraft cow stuffed animal.

Shuichi and I both made our way to the small ice cream shop nearby. We had spent a several hours in the arcade so we were at least a little hungry. Plus, who doesn't like ice cream? Today seemed to be going too well. Something has to go wrong soon, right? We haven't had any awkward conversations. We didn't get into a fight, yet at least. And Shuichi even got me the stuffed animal I wanted. Something was bound to go wrong.

Shuichi left to go to the bathroom and I decided to text Miu. I haven't talked to her in a while and I honestly feel kinda bad.

Shuichi came back just in time. We didn't have anything else to explore so we just when back to our room. Expecting to stay there for the rest of the night. Shuichi headed into the shower and I sat down on the bed, ready to play on my phone.
