--Scott--

I packed up my office and left that awful building to go to my new one. My father passed away a few weeks ago and we lost this business. But a man that I was talking with before we went down really wanted to work with me on his new business. And now that's where I am. He retired so I'm taking over with my amazing sidekick.

"Mitch. Can you put this box on the truck please?"

"Yessir." I gave him a kiss as he jumped onto the truck and slid the box in with the others.

"Wanna go get lunch while we wait for the next truck to come? I need a break."

"Absolutely. Chipotle?"

"Of course."

"How do you think Andrew is doing at school?" I asked Mitch.

"I hope good. I guess we'll find out how it went when he gets home."

"He was pretty nervous starting at a new school. He told me this morning, 'Dad. Please please please don't let me go. I'll watch Spongebob with you all day.' It was the cutest thing with his little puppy dog eyes. But I sent him anyway because I'm a strict dad."

"You're not strict. I would've sent him too."

"I feel bad that we ripped him out of his old school. What if he's getting bullied at school?"

"He wasn't before. What's changed?"

"People know he has two dads now. Joel never participated so they never knew."

"Oh, you're right. I could call today and ask if there's any reason he would hate school."

"You should do that. I don't want him getting bullied because parents raised their kids so ignorantly."

"Me either. I'll call when we get home."

--Mitch--

"Hey Andrew. How was school?" I asked him, sitting down with him on the couch.

"I hate school, daddy."

"Why is that?"

"People aren't nice."

"Do they say anything to you?"

"Not about me, I guess."

"Is it about your dads?"

"Yeah. They say bad things about you. They say I was adopted."

"Honey. You were not adopted. Believe me. I have the scar to prove it."

"I know that what they say isn't true daddy. But it still hurts."

"I know sweetie. Dad and I will go into your school and talk with the principal about it. Okay?"

"Okay." He got off my lap as Scott came downstairs.

"Well?"

"Not well. People are saying things to him about having two dads. They told him he was adopted."

"We're going to take him to school tomorrow and go talk to his principal. Andrew needs to tell us who was saying it."

"I agree. We'll ask him tomorrow morning. Let's just go to bed."
