When Jane finally returned to work she was shocked to know that Ethan was transferred to the branch in a remote area. Also Celine was terminated because of medical malpractice. She disregarded the patient history which lead to complications after surgery. The patient decided not to sue her but she paid a hefty sum for the expenses caused by her negligence.

When she took a break she turned off her phone and deactivated her social media accounts that's why she was oblivious to this news.

"Good Morning Doc Jane. Welcome back!"

She was greeted by a lot of warm welcomes from her colleagues and patients that it made her day better. She went straight into her office and she saw her good friend Ana sitting at one of the chair while sipping coffee.

"So, our Nightingale is finally back!" Ana said while handling me milk.

'"Yes and can you please stop that accusatory glares." I said while laughing.

"Hello Jane! You applied for a month leave. Remember the shock it gave me. You never applied for a leave and then you applied for a month?"

I laughed at her wide eyed expression and took a sip from my milk.

"Well, there's always a first time right?"

"Hmmm. Something's fishy. I couldn't contact you for a month so I thought you got kidnapped or got sold to a human trafficking den!".

I sometimes wonder why she became a doctor when she definitely fits to be a novelist. Ana often exaggerate things and she has the weirdest ideas.

"I've been so busy that I forgot I have a life so I took a time off to unwind and think things through." I answered.

"Hmmm acceptable but I still think there is more to it." I rolled my eyes at her. She can also be a detective sometimes.

I wanted to ask her if she know something about why Ethan got transferred but I held myself cause she might get suspicious as to why I don't know my boyfriends' whereabouts. I haven't told anyone my break up with Ethan so they believe we were

still together. I will tell her but not now, maybe when it is less painful. I don't know the reason Ethan got transferred but I am thankful because I don't have to see him and act like nothing happened. The idea of being intimate to someone and then becoming strangers terrifies me. It only shows that a humans' emotions is fickle. After changing into a doctors' robe and getting the things I need, I made my way to see my patients.
