Angel Season 1: Episode 3

I sit in the back of Oz's van, looking through one of his music magazines. Buffy wanted Angel to have the Gem, so seeing that Oz was going in that direction for a concert, I would tag along. Really, I just wanted to get away from the fact that the mansion was destroyed, and I was moving into a small apartment, and the fact that I had slept with Spike, and I wanted to forget that.

We head up the bumpy road to L.A, at night no less. Oz was scanning the road, looking around while the radio blasted in the background. I look up at the large building that he had just stopped at, climbing through the row of seats and into the front, " This is it?"

Oz nods and pushes out the door to the car, " You have it?"

I fish out the ring from my pocket, holding it in front of his face as I go out. I head into the L.A. night air, walking up to the looming building. Oz pulls the door back for me and I go inside. We find where Angel was stationed, and I look inside the clear glass door to see Cordelia and some other guy bickering. Pushing the door, they stop and turn to look at me, " Hey."

Cordy stands up, " Aurora, and.. Oz! Oh my god, it's Aurora, and Oz!"

She stands up and pulls us into a hug before turning to face her friend, "It's fancy nancy Aurora and good old fashioned Oz!"

Her friend nods, " Let me guess, you're Aurora, and you're Oz."

I nod, "Good guess."

Cordy continues to vent, " This is so cool, I mean, here you are, in L.A, and you are the total monument of all things Sunnydale!"

I force a smile, " Yeah."

Oz follows along, " It's a burden, but we manage."

Cordy turns to her friend, " Oz is a werewolf, Aurora was blessed by some demon."

I stuff my hands into my pockets, " Rai elder demon."

"Right," Cordelia says, " Uh, well, this is Doyle, he air quotes, works here."

I smile at the brown haired man now known as Doyle, who comes up and kisses my hand. " Pleasure."

Oz steps up to the desk the Cordy was now standing behind, " So I heard the rumors, you're like detectives."

Before Doyle can say anything, Cordy budges, " I'm an actress. Who sometimes helps solve crime in between her gigs."
" Angel's the one. He's the detective," Doyle says.

I nod, " Do you know where he is?"

We are led to an old elevator, which shakes as it goes down. From the top, I can see Angel below us, reading something. The elevator juts to a stop and the doors are pulled open. Angel looks up from his book, "Aurora."

I smile before hugging him, " Hi, Angel."

" This is a nice surprise," he says resting his chin on the top of my head, "Oz."

I release him as Oz comes out of the elevator, " He came here with me."

Angel narrows on the shorter man, " Staying long?"

" Few days," Oz fires back.

" Are they always like this?" Doyle asks, hinting to the short worded conversations.

I smile, " Um, Angel. We had something for you."

Angel raises an eyebrow, " Come on in."

I shuffle into the room, digging the ring out of my pocket, " Oz came here for a gig, but I tagged along. We needed to give you this."
