You were helping your mother in the kitchenshe was always a kind person, making food for other families that needed itYou had always helped her out with it; it's a normal thing and you didn't particularly mindYou hoped Ray would be there soon so that he could help treat your friend's injuryshe got hurt while she was out playing with her brother and they got attacked by banditsluckily a kind adventurer saved them, though she was still a bit hurtYou went to go ask for some potatoes from your neighbor; you'd pay them back laterbut you had a bad feeling about this (is this a star wars reference-) then, you heard the steps of soldiers walking towards the town, and you rushed insideThese weren't any bandits; these were soldiers of Perland- and monsters?! you knew that Perland and Aakhen weren't on good terms, but-It was down in some other district, but they could come to your district any timeYou heard words that were something like "Heir of the Covenant" and "Straze"; they must be here to get rid of the heir?!You and your mother hid in the small bedroom you shared, hoping for all of this to endMonsters ran around everywhere, and you even caught a glimpse of a girl with giant scissors run aroundWith the huge mess going around, you were confused, scared, and unable to move, like anyone elseThe gunfight continued on for what felt like forever, and it went on into the nightYou peeked out of a window, and you saw a fight break outthe girl with the giant scissors... a purple haired dude... and- PAVEL?!You had met Pavel once before while he was on a mission for the Perland RaidersHe was so kind, and you would have loved to see him again- not like this thoughHe was terribly injured, and once the girl with the scissors went away, you went out to him, despite your mother's objectionsHe took a second to recognize you, and you gave him a hugThe purple haired guy asked, "What, you know this girl?""Yeah, I met her on a mission once. She helped me out when I was injured."You helped treat his wounds again"You should get out of here, (y/n).""No! I'm going to help you get better, then we can escape this battlefield. The girl said that it was either be strong enough to fight or weak enough to die, let's not be a part of that and go somewhere else.""... sorry (y/n).""Huh?""I have to fight this battle; I'll keep you safe" Pavel hugged you weakly and wiped your tearsYou felt his hands wipe your tears, rough from holding the gun so muchYou knew you couldn't convince him otherwise, so you knew you had to stop.You parted and went back into your house with your mother, waiting for the battle to finally end
