Well, let's start off with a favorite anime of mine: hetalia.

In the minisodes known as "America's storage cleaning" (or something like that I don't even remember please don't hurt me)...
America is cleaning out his closet of old stuff.
He finds certain objects that reminds him of his childhood.
Such as toy soldiers, an old suit, stuff like that.
Finally in the corner he spots............a musket with a scratch in it
COMMENCE FLASHBACK
Revolutionary War:
England ends up crying on the floor.
America looks sad
Flashback within the flashback to when england first met america. They're both happy.
END OF FLASHBACK
America ends up not finishing the cleaning, because of the sad memories.
