I was about 13 when I moved to Georgia with my uncle, Brian. He's offcially Caucasian-American, just as my father, but he moved here, to Hungary, as I was born. Brian's the cool type of uncle, example as he took me hunting when I was 12.
The good thing about him is, that he was always younger than his age. He was really flexible for things, and neither has time changed him, it only turned his oak-brown hair to graying. He had dark brown eyes and a shaven face. Brian was not really tall, he was just about middle-height,around 1,75.
We had a very strong bond, a bond so strong that not even brothers and sisters could ever think about. He saw me like I was his own daughter, and so did I.. He was like a father, instead of my father...
Dad genuinly wasn't a bad guy, but, he couldn't just support me or understand me as much, as Brian did.. But I did not mind about that. I was happy with my uncle. He was like one of the best people I have ever had, he was my whole family. That was one of the reasons I decided to travel with him to Georgia.
Well, one reason of why Brian wanted to move was, that he did not enjoy living in Hungary, and the other reason was, that his best friend, Pete, moved there with his family. They have known each other since the age of 13 and 16 - Brian is now 52 and Pete is 55. They met when Brian still lived in his hometown and been childhood friends eversince. Pete was middle-height too, had dark brown eyes and black, greying hair. Pete also had a little round-beard.
They really got together. Pete was like him in every aspect. Not only they had the same interest, but did everything together. He might aswell had a nephew, with the same strong kinship and similar story, he was his father, instead of his real father.
His name was Nick. He was a bit taller than avarage, around 1,77 and had black hair, just as his uncle. He had beautiful, clean skyblue eyes. Nick also had a little beard and moustache.
He was like me. He was sensitive, full of feelings and attached to his uncle the most, more than his own father.
Since we moved to Georgia, we spent so much time together. We were hunting as a group of four, played cards, spent hours staying out, walking, or had grill parties with Pete's family. Though, we preferred to stay as just the little group of us, because if Nick's mother came, then his father, too and that man was a real hot tempered ,careless asshole. He never really was there for Nick, and he was a real piece of shit when he was. Pete was the one holding Nick and making sure to raise him right, because his father was incapable to.
Not only we spent time as a crew, but many times we stood only together with Nick. He often visited our house and even slept here, and so I did at their house. I also had a chance to meet his best friend, Luke, who was the same age as him and with whom he now has like 20 years of friendship, just as Pete and Brian. We spent tons together, as a little circle of friends. Nick, Luke and I. I got well along with Luke. He was really understanding and always had a good heart. I was really thankful to him, because even if I couldn't in a moment or another, he stood there for Nick and took care of him.
Luke was a bit shorter than Nick, around Pete and Brian's height. He had light brown hair and honey brown eyes, as I did. He had a little moustache and a small beard 'round his chin. Pete also really liked Luke. He, in some points, treated him as a son, and lent him good advices.
After our uncles and Nick's family , he was the first to know about us becoming a couple and was really happy for Nick. He shared the same happiness that Nick and I had..,together...We had very strong feelings towards each other. He was really gentle and tender with me.. He treated me like I was his princess and forever granted my every wish, might as well he always had surprises for me, like randomly showing up with red or white roses or writing an emotional letter...
We got into each other so easily and so fast. Albeit, our relationship was like a young, teenager love at the beginning, as we were just 13 and 15, but with a few years passed, it grew into a very deep, serious love. And when I turned 20, he proposed me...
We really loved each other.. But.. Our fate was not a happy end... When I turned 21, an apocalyps hit in and we got separated. I never saw him again. He gone somewhere with his family, and I hit another road with Brian. I was so down and emotionally broken. I wished to just hug him for one last time, but I couldn't.. I Just.. I couldn't think about else but him. I didn't even care if I'd turn into a Walker, just see him for a moment.. But luck was never really on my side...
And here I am now, 24 years old. Haven't seen Nick for 3 years. I have no idea where he is, nor a single clue, if he is alive at all.. And even if he is, I cannot know if he did not find another already. I've cried days and nights through for Nick, and kept hoping, but for nothing. If my uncle hasn't been there for me.. I don't know.. Maybe I would have already turned crazy...
- Smirre...- Brian put his palm on my knee. Smirre was a fox from a cartoon called Nils Holgersson. He used to call me that because of my red hair.
- What, uncle Brian..?-I answered desperately.
- I know how you are feeling, but, you cannot let it eat you up. And I am still here, sweetheart. Never forget that.
- Don't get me wrong. I really love you and I am glad you made it with me, but.. Nick was like the love of my life and... - I bursted out in tears.
- I know... - he patted my back. - But you have to move on... You MUST to survive. You know that...
I took a deep breath.
- Where are we even driving anyway?
- To Savannah. We should be able to scavange there and find some safe place. I hope...
- And maybe Nick.. Though, I am not so hopeful about that... - I teared again.
- You never know. C'mon.
- I guess... - I sighed. - I'm tired...
- Rest yourself. Savannah is still 3 hours away.
- Wait. Do not tell me we were only driving for an hour.
- Seemed like an eternity already, didn't it?
- Indeed...
I don't know more of what happened as I fell asleep. I woke up to Brian's yell as we got to Savannah.
- GET UP KID, WE HIT WALKERS!
I got up as fast as I could have.
We were surrounded. There was only a small horde, like 6 or 7 of them, but too much for us. Brian only had 2 bullets left and I just had a knife. He shot the two in front to clear the path a little, so we could run for it, but I got grabbed by a bigger one.
- UNCLE BRIAN! - I yelled after him.
He turned back and tried to run back to help me, but they got him, too.
It was going to be the end...
