On a cold Christmas night in 1991 a child was born, Louis. Just a week after his birth Louis' father divorced his mother. The were all alone now. Luckily this wasn't a problem, Louis was  cheerful and just a little bit naughty, but in the good way. He loved his mother a lot. Louis birthday had a lot of traditions, every Christmas eve there was a Christmas party in the town hall. During the day Louis helped helped his mom making mashed potatoes and Christmas pudding. After the cooking they always went outside to look at all the Christmas lights. 'Lights for Louis' his mother called them. Louis always thought everyone put the lights up for his birthday. In the evening they went to the Christmas party where everyone congratulated Louis for his birthday. They sang songs, danced until they couldn't anymore and ate the food everyone had brought. At the end of the night they were exhausted. It was Louis' favourite day of the year.

On his 8th birthday Louis learned about Christmas. His mother told him Josef, Maria and their child Jesus. Louis loved the story, all of this happened on his birthday! A little bit later he asked, "mom? All those lights, are they for me or for Jesus?" He was a little bit disappointed when he found out all those lights weren't actually for hi, like his mother always told him,  but for someone else. But it didn't really matter to him, he still loved the Christmas lights and every Christmas eve he and his mother still walked around town to look at them,

When Louis was then years old his mother married another man. Louis and his stepfather were really closed. Mark, his stepdad, was really into music. He played guitar, piano and had a beautiful voice. Louis and his stepfather sang a lot together, they often performed in the town hall. They were locally famous and Louis' mother was their biggest fan.

On December 7th 2005 Louis mother passed away, she had leukaemia. Nobody had seen it coming, she wasn't ill for a long time. Louis was broken, his mom was everything to him. A few days, later on Christmas eve, Louis walked outside to look at the Christmas lights. They were different this year, Louis couldn't believe his eyes. Everywhere he looked where signs with lights around them, 'Lights for Louis' they said. This year the lights were really for him and he felt himself more connected to his mother then he ever did before.
