"Ellie, please." Harry begged urgently, his forest eyes blazing with both fear and fury. "Just come with me. We can work everything out, it will all go back to the way it was."
I shook my head violently, hot tears spilling from my eyes, then streaming down my cheeks in a wave of overwhelming emotions. My hands, resting limply at my sides, trembled with terror and determination. It was silent for a few passing moments as I continued to shake my head, the only other sounds heard in the small room were that of my soft whimpers and Harry's heavy breathing.
"No." I finally choked out. "No. How could you do this to me, Harry? I believed in you. I trusted you." Again, the tears leaked, this time in a larger abundance, coating my cheeks in watery streaks as a sob ripped through me, echoing throughout the small chamber.
"Baby, please." Harry begged in a small voice. "Don't do this." There was a pain in his eye that was intensified through his every movement. His actions were calm and careful, but behind them, there was an evident tension that strained him. It hurt me to watch Harry in a state so unlike him, but it hurt me more to relive the moment where I discovered that it had all been a lie.
Without another word I turned away from him, towards what he feared most. A sharp breath puffed from beyond his lips as I took a step towards the third person in the room. He knew there was nothing more he could do.
"Ellie." Harry whispered, the sound almost going unheard. It was almost as though it was meant to go undetected, almost as if he were testing out my name, remembering the way it sounded on his lips before he could never speak it again.
I reached my hand out, toward the one awaiting it. I took a step forward to a place I never thought I would go. I interlocked my digits with those of my enemy, and allowed him to guide me away. I left Harry alone in the tiny space, with nothing but the lingering presence of what was, but what would never be again.
