The moon is a full ivory circle in the sky. The sparkling stars show clearly in the sky. I touch my fingers to the cold car window. A chill tingles down my back. I quickly take my fingers from the window.
"How much further?" I ask from the back seat.
"About ten miles." Chad says.
"Great." I say sarcastically.
"Look on the bright side." My mom says.
"What bright side?
"A new house, new school, and we're leaving behind bad memories.
"What ever..." I drift off. I pull out my phone and look at the signal bar. "No signal, of course." I say.
"We're just out of range. I'm sure there will be signal at the new house." My mom says.
The radio signal goes fuzzy and the music turns into white noise. My mom changes the station and it is still fuzzy. She turns off the radio. I look at the seat next to me where my little sister is fast asleep. I glance out her window and I notice something that looks like a set of eyes. There golden reflection is almost hypnotizing. I turn away but I am tempted to look back, but they eyes are gone. Our dog sits in between me and my sister. I pet his head and lean my head back on the head rest.
"We're home." Chad says as he pulls into a gravel driveway that goes up a steep hill.
When the house comes into view, I already know I don't like it here.
