Asteri rested his forearm on a shovel, staring out over the cliff.

The sky was alight with color, from red to deep blue. It was ugly.

Everything was, at first. This was Dalbinar, the coal town, city of despair.

He smiled, how dramatic the legends were. It wasn't that bad. Once could get a drink for cheap, providing he had the credentials.

"Hey! You there." A deep voice said, their voice seemed to echo.

"Shit! Shit, they've found me, I should of never come here. Oh god- Ama.." He cursed, turning around, seeing a person, their appearance hidden beneath their thick, plated armor.

"Ah.. I see you've met Amara, I wonder how you managed to corrupt her in such a short time, no matter, she will be taken care of, as well as the child. The-thing stepped forward, as if it enjoyed the suspense.

How brave of you to wander outside.. during Encrading Day. Even the smallest child knows that means death." The person spoke, twirling a gold encrusted knife as if it was an expensive fan.

"Amara.." Asteri looked up the creature. "Y-you monster! What have you done to her?"

"Me? I am but a simple guard, I go by many names, but my victims..? They call me Tamara. " The guard took off their helmet and grinned.

"N-no. You died, I saw you die." Asteri went from offence to defense, if this really was Tamara, then.. well- he stood no chance. Or did he?

"Wait. Tamara, remember Cassidus, the gardens? We had so much fun.. have you forgotten decades of friendship.

"Remember?" She let out a harsh, cold laugh. It echoed around the canyons. "Why should I? Cruelty is free of charge, I can do what I want, and get payed for it. "

"Now.. where did I put my- oops! " She flung the knife, then smiled at Asteri. "I am truly sorry,.. but it had to be done." She walked away.

Asteri stumbled, looking down at his chest. The knife was embedded in his chest, blood pouring down onto the ground.
