Walker

It was evening and I just came from eating dinner with Sophie and Gavin.

My mum called me

"Walker come here please "she said.

"OK Mum I'll be right there "I replied.

I walked upstairs to her room and met her sitting on her bed with something like a pamphlet in her hand.

"Look at this Walker. She said pointing to a new school different from the one I went to with Sophie and Gavin.

"Yeah it's cool what about it? "I asked.

I didn't know why she was showing me this. I was doing well in my school.

In fact too well. I got top marks at everything I did since I started school so I had no idea why she was showing me this.

"Walker you just got a scholarship to Columbus Juniors" she said.

"Wait isn't that like really far away from where we are? "I asked.

"Yeah! That's why were moving there! "she said with too much enthusiasm.

" What!?"

"Look it's an amazing opportunity. You'll never get this again. I'll give it time to think about it " she said.

How could she expect me to do this? I love my friends. But this would be really good. I was about to decline when my sister Alex walked in. It looks like she was crying.

"Grandpa's in the hospital" she said.

"Really why?"

"Dad just got called by the police and the hospital in Columbus. He's going to feel better really soon "she told me.

"OK "I said.

Without thinking I clicked accept. It will be really good. Besides, I have a lot of family there.

I tried to tell my friends but I didn't have the heart to break my friendship for my selfish gains?

Every day I saw them I couldn't bring myself to do it. Especially to Sophie.

During those last 5 days I was the happiest. It's all because we were there. I was there. She was here. Today, I had to leave. It was the hardest day of my life.

Even to enter the plane was a problem. I flew all the way to school. It was good and I made friends but none were like them. I sighed thinking it was my fate.

End of flashback

Gavin

"Oh wow"I said.

"Yeah" he said."I had no idea. Although Sophie might not-"I started.

"Believe it I know "he completed.

"She scared Walker, she's been through a lot you know. She might not be ready "I said to him.

"I know. Do me a favor and don't tell her. You know, until I can" he said.

"Sure bro" I replied. I knew it was going to be a hard secret to keep but anything for Walker.

"Thanks dude" he said and hugged me tight.

There was one problem..... I was terrible at lying.

Sophie
I looked for Gavin everywhere until I found him in the mercy room.

"Hey gavs, been looking for you all day" I said plopping down on the couch next to him.

He was fidgeting like he was hiding something.
