A light shone down and forced my eyes open. A squeak came from the noisy door as a blurred figure walked in, walking closer to me. My heart was beating out of my chest.
Who is that? Where am I?A friendly, welcoming smile came from the female as my eyes started to adjust. A hospital...
"Hello Itami, I'm Ms. Kio. I'll be your personal nurse while you're housed at the Dranjami Hospital."
I found myself blink at her in wonder, how did I get here?
She sighed and walked over to the table positioned directly beside me, I watched, contemplating, what.. happened... what happened? Why...
A memory shot through me like a bullet.
The car. The woman... The boy..
Did I..I looked at the female as she lifted her head towards me, "Can you remember anything? Are you feeling bad?" She asked me. I didn't know how to respond. I could remember, but did I want to? I spit the words out in stutters, "I-I do.. is he.. are they.. okay?.." The female gave me a strange look, but straightened as she smiled. "Oh yes, Ms. Hilo thanks you very much for saving her son. You did a brave thing you know, but sadly it caused you more pain then it should have." She said with a sad smile. Her face . . .the pity was sickening . . .but I couldn't respond. I turned my head and looked at the white, blinding ceiling. It was so bright . . .It felt inhuman.
"Dr. Gin says it will take around 3 days for you to recover enough to start moving around much more again. We've examined you, luckily you were fortunate enough to only have some sprained bones, as in your right ankle and left wrist, but your ribs are in some bad circumstances. That's why we recommend moving as less as possible, of course laying down would do you well, you have to sit up to eat and drink to avoid choking and of course, going to the bathroom. If you need any help with anything about your body or trouble moving just let one of the nurses nearby know, if I'm not here that is." She gave me a small.. sweet.. smile before another nurse walked in, pulling out a table like thing and setting a plate of food on it. "Here's your breakfast, i'll come by in a few hours to gather the plate once you've had enough of it." The other nurse walked out without a word, as Ms. Kio waved and walked to the door. "Just press that button if you need any help." I looked to my side, seeing a control with a button on it.
It's so crazy.. I saved someone? What about my..
My eyes drifted over to the food as my mind went blank. I'm.. not hungry. Should I eat? Would they be upset with me if I didn't..?
I grabbed the fork and stabbed the eggs with it, staring at the bite before putting it in my mouth. My body limped, it's like it wanted to refuse. I chewed it and swallowed, my eyes tearing up before the tears completely overwhelmed me. They streamed down my face, for a moment, I thought I could hear a sweet voice saying;
"Good job, sweetie! I'm so proud of you.."
I don't know where I remember that voice from. The feminine, high, sweet, angelic voice that made me so happy. Was it... no... I don't remember.
I wanted to cry, well, more than I already started.
"Crying is for little sissy boys. Are you a little sissy boy? Pathetic."No.. I'm not a little sissy boy..
I rubbed the tears from my eyes with my wrist that wasn't in pain, sniffing. I put the fork down and stared out the window. This happens to a lot of people in the world. It's so sad . . . But, it's nothing we can change.
Maybe I deserved it. Maybe this is the universe telling me that I need to grow up?
Whatever the reasoning is . . . I know that no one will be missing me right now.Because I messed up.
