The Wooden Box

I woke-up on the ground with a bad hangover from the night before, the fire was nothing but ashes and it was really cold so I took the liberty of lighting it to heat up some water like usual and to provide us with warmth, Jay woke-up and joined me next to the fire she was wearing a t-shirt that could barely keep her warm, so, I offered my jacket which she took it with a smile, I then poured us a cup of coffee each.

_Smoke?

_No thanks Im good.

We sat there in silence with only the sound of nature and the wood crackling in the fire to fill in the awkwardness between us.

_Im sorry about yesterday, I didn't mean to spook you guys with my stupid stories .

_Its not your fault , the idea of finding that creepy box in that old house is just weird, plus we are in an abandoned forest drinking our asses off so it just makes sense to imagine glowing red eyes and see weird things.

_YeahI  guess you're right.

I slowly put my arm around her shoulder and brought her tighter to my chest, I know that she doesn't love me like I do but having her around hugging her seeing her laugh, smile and happy just makes me happy. The others started waking up one after the other, we drank our coffee and talked about last night and laughed a bit before we decided to do the usual clean up the camp and gather sticks for the fire, a few hours has passed and everyone has done their shores.

_What now?

Asked Sam as he threw the sticks he was holding over the pile that we gathered next to the fire.

_Well tomorrow is Christmas eve so I think we should pack up and leave so we would have time to take a shower relax and sleep before we get reunited with our families tomorrow.

_That sounds good to me!

We left the girls and went around the other side of the lake to talk.

_Its just that Im really not looking forward to go back and confront my father.

_Its okay you can spend Christmas eve with me and my parents at my house!

_No, I dont want to be a burden.

_None sense I love you bro and so does my parents youre family!!

_Can we spend one more night here at camp?

_I don't see why not, we just have to talk to the girls and see if they don't mind it either. but if you don't mind me asking why?

_Well, that way I'll have more time to call my mother and ask her if i can spend Christmas with you.

We hugged and did our little handshake before joining the others. Sam explained to them what happened and asked if they would agree to spend one more night here of course we all agreed thats what friends are for after all.

It was about 2pm and we were getting hungry. So, we got in my car and drove around trying to decide what to eat we werent agreeing on what to eat so I went to a snack that serves all kinds of fast food I parked the car and we all went inside we sat on a table in the back it was our first time in the place and we didnt want to sit in the middle of it , the waitress finally came.
