"At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart but not in your life." ~♥~

I swirled the coffee in my mug, hoping for the sugar to melt away its taste. I had always hated coffee ever since I was young.

It could be served hot, but also cold. It could have a creamy texture, but it could also be black. It could be sweet, but also bitter.

The point was; coffee contradicted its nature, and I hated contradictions. I'd rather know something that expressed itself without confusing myself to the uttermost limit of my patience. Coffee reminded me of my incapability to understand emotions.

I didn't like to dwell on any matters that needed a lot of time to think, especially human emotions.

Human feelings change as quickly as the signal on the road without any warning. They confused me to a level at which I tended to stare blankly at the person, simply droning out their voice.

Sometimes we tend to be happy, but that feeling can quickly change to excitement or even anger in some petty situation.

"Diana, look at me when I'm speaking to you," Mrs. Aurage said.

"I was, wasn't I?" I replied, a lazy smirk drawing itself on my lips.

"Just read the chart and decipher the faces given below." She had an expressionless face that tended to scare me at times.

The only person in my life who didn't show emotions on her face was Mrs. Aurage. She believed in maintaining professionalism during her classes and separated her feelings from herself, the minute she stepped through the door.

"Is that....shock? No wait, its disbelief?" I tried again.

"No. I want you to think about what the face is trying to portray," she replied, monotonously.

"Umm, I have no idea......oh wait, I got it! It's the I-want-to-kill-someone face," I muttered, sarcasm lacing my tone.

"No. The expression being shown here is one of joy," She simply ignored my sarcasm.

"What's the use of telling me all this? Either way the faces get jumbled up in my brain. This assignment has done nothing to help me! Instead, now I'm even more confused about the expressions shown by people," I groaned and hid my face in my hands.

"No, you're much closer than before. If this was your first class, you would have muttered something along the lines of, and I quote 'the person looks like he wants to poop.' The fact to note is that you seemed to understand the eye expression and the forehead," -she pointed towards the wrinkles on the head and the eyes on the face- "But your mind blocked out the formation of the person's mouth due to which you felt that the person was in shock."

I looked at her, blankly.

Mrs. Aurage rolled her eyes and waved her hands in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance like state.

"That's all for today, Diana. I guess your mum is waiting outside. I'll see you next week."

I got up and waved at her, before smiling and skipping towards the door. The only thing I understood was that I had made progress, and progress meant cake tonight at home.

"What's up with you? Are you happy?" I asked and traced the fine lines between his eyebrows.

"Does it look like I'm happy, Diana? Don't ask me stupid questions," He frowned and slapped my hand away from his face.

I gave him a confused expression, or at least an expression that I thought resembled confusion.
