"Hello guys, I'm your houses' manager, Mia" said a very kind looking woman, in her early 30s."Today I am going to show you your houses, there are seven of them, each has four floors. On every floor there are two bedrooms with three beds, one bedroom with two beds, a common room and a kitchen. There are two laundry rooms in each house on the first and on the third floor. The house's are close to the main university building and the volleyball and basketball fields are not far either. On the right, there is a hall where dance classes are going to take part. You should go to the cancellerry this afternoon to get your timetables. I think that this is the main part, now first year, please follow me"
Andy looked around as a small group of people formed around her. They all looked lost, the university and its grounds being so big that they felt like they were in completely different world. She felt overwhelmed, there was a part of her that didn't want to be here, but another one wanted to see what would happen, her father had told her that now is the time to live and do whatever she wants and that college years for him had been the best....and she really wanted to believe that, so she grabbed Vic's hand, squeezing it, as they made their way down an alley. The taller girl gave her a reassuring smile and kept walking.
"First years are in that one" Mia said, gesturing to the first of seven houses "You eight- first floor; You eight- second floor" she pointed to Andy, Vic and six other people around them, that she didn't know yet. The two girls looked around, a boy with blonde hair and a boy at least a foot taller than Andy were looking at them, they smiled shyly and gabbed their suitcases, dragging them inside, which....wasn't as easy as it sounds, it was hard cause each of them weighted, what felt like, more than the girls themselves.
Once in the common room the girls were greeted by a blonde and two guys, who had already unpacked and were currently playing chess on one of the small coffee tables.
"Want some help?" the blonde asked "I am Maya by the way" they shook hands.
"Andy. And that right there is Vic" she pointed at Vic, who was currently unpacking her stuff. "So- how did u come here so fast, at first you were downstairs and then-" Andy was interrupted by a loud noise. She and Maya peeked their heads outside of the room and saw the blonde boy from earlier followed by the tall boy.
"Don't wanna break the door on our first day living here now, do we" Andy threw out sarcastically.
The boys looked at her with their eyebrows raised.
"Andy. and you are?"
"Robert" the tall boy smiled.
"Luke" the blonde said.
"I'm Jack" a boy behind Andy said. "That's Dean" he pointed to a boy next to him.
"I'm Vic" Vic had just came out of her, Maya and Andy' room
"Wait" Robert raised a finger and started counting.
"we are seven....shouldn't we be eight-"
"Heeeeeeyyyy" a black haired, freckled boy came in "I'm Travis, sorry that I'm late, i accidently went on the 4th floor" he smiled."You know there is an elevator, right?" Maya pointed out.
"An elevator?!" Both Vic and Andy slapped their foreheads.
"Anyway, I really wanna look around, so, is something coming with me, if I get lost, I don't want the raccoons to eat me"
"I will come with you" Robert said, holding the door for her.
"Ooooh, gentlemen" Andy smirked and he chuckled.
"If we aren't back in an hour...you can tell the principal that we have gone missing!" And she and Robert were out.About 45 minutes later there was a knock on the door and a blonde girl peeked in.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt, just wanted to meet the other 1st years"
"I'm Meredith by the way"
"I'm Vic and the others are not here, I'm waiting for them in case they go missing you know, someone has to report that....they went to get the timetables" she added after seeing the confused look on Mer's face.
"Right, well if you ever need something I'm on the 3rd floor"
"It was nice meeting you, Meredith!"
A few moments after the blonde was out, her phone rang.
"Oh hey mom, yeah, I unpacked yeah.....it's really great in here, tho it's kinda too fancy for my liking....classes start tomorrow yeah.....I don't know if I will be back for Christmas break, mom, it's literally still September....yeah....can I call you in a few, I gotta do something...... yeah, bye, love ya" and she hung up. She got up and went to the window. Andy and Robert were coming down the alley with pieces of paper in their hand, probably talking about who has which class.
"Here goes nothing" she thought.
