Chapter 1

It seemed like a decade had gone by since the rebellion had happened. The capitol still wanted revenge, and they would do anything to get it. The 12 districts were getting prepared yet again for another Hunger Games. Many people have recently moved into Panem. Why everyone asks, no one will ever know. Why someone would want to move somewhere that always seems to have constant battles, is beyond them. Tatum Lately, a new member of the Panem society, was hoping to get a spot in the upcoming Hunger Games. She had training back in her old town where she used to live. So anything that would get in her way, she was positive that she could stop it. Katniss Everdeen from district 12 was going to be her biggest enemy. One reason was because Tatum liked Peeta. Another reason was, considering Tatum has had as much training as Katniss, Tatum believed that she could beat Katniss in anything.

The day was finally here. The drawing of the tributes for the upcoming Hunger Games. Tatum was part of district 11, where little Rue had been before. District after district was being called. Finally they arrived at district 11. “Tatum Lately” the announcer said. Tatum sprouted up. Who was happy to be part of a life or death situation? I guess Tatum. It’s not like Tatum was excited though, she was just excited to show Panem who the real winner was. They moved on to district 12. “Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen” the announcer said. Tatum’s enemy was in the Hunger Games. That’s all she wanted, to show Panem that Katniss Everdeen was not who they thought she was. Katniss may be good at many things, but beating Tatum wasn’t a possibility.

When all the tributes were on the stage, that is when Katniss had a look on her face. A look of fear. A look of doubt. Was she going to get killed? Was the love of her life going to fall for this new girl? All these things running through her mind made her go crazy. Losing her life, or losing the love of her life was not what she wanted to do. She decided that she would rather be killed than lose the love of her life. She didn’t want to go through the pain of seeing Peeta with someone else. She would do anything to make sure she didn’t lose Peeta, even if it cost her, well her own life.

Only two days were left before the annual Hunger Games occurred. Getting prepared was always the hardest thing. Saying goodbye to your family, was also a hard thing. Prim, the sister of Katniss knew where Katniss was going. But she still couldn’t grasp the thought that her sister was leaving again. “Katniss, I’m going to miss you so much. I don’t know what I would do if something ever happened to you” said Prim shaken up. “Prim, I promise I will be okay”. After Katniss had said that, Prim had felt a little better, but she was still uneasy. Before anything else was said, Prim hugged Katniss than went to sleep. That is when Katniss thought about everything that was about to happen. Stay tuned to see what will happen in Chapter Two.
