The next thing that Percy remembered was waking up in the school infirmary. He wasn't sure how he got there,
“Welcome back Percy, how are you feeling?” The school doctor, Dr. Asc, got up from his desk in the corner and walked over to the cot Percy was laying on.
“My chest still hurts” Percy said as he sat up and winced.
“Hey, easy kid, you have a few fractured ribs. What did you do this time?” The doc said with a knowing smirk.
“I told a jock to take a long walk off a short pier” Percy replied and the doctor laughed.
“Percy, you need to be more careful, one of these times I won't be able to patch you up here, and then you're going to end up in the hospital.”
“And get to skip school? Seems like a win to me” He chuckled, but winced again as it made his chest hurt worse. “Doc, how did I get here?”
“Some girl came and got me, and we carried, and kinda dragged you in here. She's waiting outside, but the back door is unlocked if you need to, you know, sneak away.” With those words the doc got up and went back to his desk and continued working on his paperwork.
Percy slowly and carefully got off the cot, and exited the infirmary. It took him 2 seconds to realise who the mystery girl was. “Annabeth?”
She quickly turned and got up. “Percy! Are you ok? What happened?”
“What are you doing here Annabeth?” He asked with a slightly annoyed, yet grateful tone.
“I found you passed out in the hallway, so I got the doc and we took you to the infirmary." She tucked some hair behind her ear, as if she was nervous. "Are you ok though? What happened?"
Percy sighed, "Some jock's girl bumped into me, and the jock beat the crap out of me. And I'm fine, just a few fractured ribs, nothing I can't handle." He picked his bag up off the bench that sat outside the infirmary and slung it over his shoulder as he walked away, more confused than he's ever been.
