Chapter Five:
James paced across the living room. Megan sat on the edge of the couch, bouncing her leg.
"We fucked up." She voiced. The guilt of what they had done ripping apart her insides.
"Of course we fucked up," James snapped at her. "that's obvious you don't need to say it out loud."
She stood, "Don't fucking snap at me. This isn't only my fault."
James' eyes softened and he stopped pacing. He released a sigh. "I know. This was bound to happen. This has been going on too long."
Megan took a step towards him. "Do you regret it?"
He rolled his eyes, "Of course I regret it Megan. A fling might've just cost me the love of my life."
She retorted back, hurt. "You're not the only one with something to lose. Noah is my fiance, my future."
James snorted. "You didn't seem to be thinking about that when you were in my bed."
"And neither did you." She deadpanned.
James slammed down into the armchair, head in his hands. Megan stood across the room, arms crossed. Anxiety rippled through her.
James thought he heard Addison's car start, so he sprinted for the door.
But it was just a neighbor across the street. Her car was still there.
He checked his watch. 10 o'clock. His eyes wandered to Noah and Megan's house when he noticed all the lights were off.
Rage filled him. "Are you fucking kidding me?"
Megan ran into the room. "What? Did they answer?"
He shook his head. "No, but her car is still here and all your lights are out. What do you think that means?"
She shook her head, confused.
"Obviously she's sleeping over there. They're probably fucking right now."
Megan's eyes snapped to her home as her brows furrowed. "Maybe she's sleeping in the guest bedroom."
James rolled his eyes. "Both of them just found out they were cheated on. I guarantee they're getting back at us right now."
James knew he shouldn't be this upset, he was the one who cheated. But the thought of Addison in Noah's bed, his hands trailing across her body, infuriated him.
Megan felt sick as she envisioned the same thing. Addison trailing kisses down Noah's chest, in her bed.
Both of them pulled up their phones and, for what seemed like the hundredth time that night, tried calling the house next door.
4 Years Prior
Addison bounced in her shoes as she and Megan approached the bar. They were meeting Noah and James there, although Addison still hadn't decided who she was interested in.
Megan tagged along for moral support, and maybe to vet these guys herself.
They were meeting at the bar Addison worked at, but she wasn't working tonight. Normally she'd never come into work to drink off the clock but she decided this was a good place to hangout with Noah and James while she got to know each of them better.
As soon as the girls walked in both Noah's and James' eyes darted to Addison. They each smiled, and Noah's chest fluttered. He tried not to get his hopes up, because he was so used to James getting all the attention from women, but Addison had offered her number to Noah when they met. He hoped that meant that she was interested in him.
It was a moment before the men realized Addison brought a friend. James' eyes scanned her body, she was attractive. Noah thought she was pretty, too. But both of their eyes still followed every move Addison made.
"Hey guys," Addison said as they reached their table. She introduced Megan who smiled and waved at the two gorgeous men. Addison was right, it would be impossible to pick between the two.
As the night progressed it became apparent that Megan was interested in Noah. Addison sighed internally, she always did this. Megan would beg Addison to date, but when Addison tried to Megan would always steal the guys away from her and then pretend like she didn't realize what she was doing.
Megan was attracted to both men, they were both attractive in their own ways. Physically, for sure. But James was movie star hot, full of himself but a total Adonis. Noah was the smoldering stare with a heart of gold hot.
"I'm going to go get the next round, Addison want to come help?" Megan said as she stood up from her seat.
Addison did so reluctantly, knowing what was about to happen.
When Megan got to the bar she placed their order with the bartender and then turned to Addison.
"You seem to be hitting it off with James!"
