Akira's POV.

After so long of being begged by a close friend I was finally here.

I made it, I promised I would make the only family I had left proud, my friends, the people I trust, I promised it wouldn't all be for nothing.

Everyday I would listen to her rants, I was sick of it but I knew it would apply to me one day.

Akuma wouldn't shut up about the day, of coarse I felt bad I just didn't know what to say.

"Hey, Join with me!"

"w-what do you mean?"

A serious tone took over her voice.

"You know I wont forget the things that ate my mum"

"Didn't expect you too"

"All I want is for those things to feel the same pain I did"

I, not so fondly, recall a conversation I had with Akuma two years ago, as we walk into the general area were everyone was lining up and saluting, preparing for what we know will be a difficult three years, she turns to me.

"Thanks for being here idiot"

"Shut up"

I don't reconsider what I said. Playful banter is the fun part of our friendship, and I'm glad to have it because dad isn't exactly the person for it, Capitan Levi, humanities strongest soldier, and me, his daughter, other people didn't need to tell me I had a lot to live up to, it was easy enough to figure out on my own. What I really wanted to do was make him proud. Make my friends proud and satisfied with what I can do.

Unknowingly, this chain of thought cant continue and comes to an abrupt end as Akuma snaps her fingers in front of me and says;

"The fuck are you thinking about?"

"Life, Death and everything in between"

A playful punch on the shoulder and we are already dissolving into a fit of laughter as a rather intimidating girl, slightly taller than me trails behind a boy the same height and behind her, an even shorter boy.

"Hey!"

Akuma radiates the feeling of not caring what other people think and shows it too, so her confidence sparks up.

"Hello?..."

The blond haired boy at the back says, not quite unsure but not quite comfortable while he makes his way to the front.

"Hi its nice to meet you, my names Akuma and this is Akira!"

Akuma bursts out, I feel my face flush with this sad excuse of a social interaction.

"Oh.. uh, Hi? My name is Armin, this is Mikasa and Eren, my friends" the blond boy informed us.

I looked away and towards a group of kids as I felt the girl 'Mikasa' looking at me.

Akuma, Armin and Eren were all enthusiasicly talking.

"What are you joining?" Mikasa asked me.

I kept my cool.

"Survey Corps"

She raised an eye brow and looked down at me.

"Aw come on I'm not that short!!" I shouted, annoyed.

Akuma stopped talking and started laughing.

"Little baby man" She teased.

She knew what she was getting herself into.

It was almost like she didn't mind.

I kicked the back of her knees and she barely buckled, used to it.

So I punched her in the arm.

She continued to laugh.

That was another great thing in our friendship.

She doesn't mind getting hurt.

Great punching bag.

Eren was surprised and was asking if Akuma was ok but she was too busy laughing her head off.

Mikasa smiled and I couldn't help but to smile back.

I guess this place that was well known as a hell hole wasn't gonna be that bad.
