CORBYN BESSON IS NOT WEIRD.

at least not to his parents. but he has friends! even if it's only 5, they all were still super nice to him and somehow managed to put him with him. a part of corbyn thought they were just friends with him for pity, but the rather small group always managed to reassure him and promise him he wasn't a bother... plus his therapist gave him a stern talking to on more than one occasion. but he wasn't weird to his alters. (at least he hoped not.) they were always there for him; his closest friends all boarded up nice and safe within the confinements his mind.

but, if you asked the people who saw the brunette walking down the street mumbling to himself,

corbyn besson was weird.

if you asked the people who treasured in making his life a living hell in high school,

corbyn besson was a freak.

and if you asked his countless of previous therapists who corbyn had finally worked up the bravery to open up to,

corbyn besson was a liar who heard voices in his head.

of course corbyn was none of those things, but after year after year of hearing the same insulting and hurtful comments, a part of him really started to believe it.

"corbyn? honey?"

the brunette looked up to where his mom cast a worried glance through the facetime call the boy had started in dire need for a mom moment (college was beating his ass and he currently wanted a warm motherly hug he could not receive, but a call would have to do.)

"yeah? sorry, got distracted." the boy mumbled, pulling his sleeves down his fingertips.

"are you feeling a little switchy? is jonah there?" the worried look failed to stray from sasika's face as she studied her eldest son.

switchy was the term corbyn had dubbed when he was first diagnosed. whenever one of his alters would push to take control, he'd always get a little lightheaded, describing the uncomfortable feeling as switchy.

jonah was also his roommate and one of his closest friends since moving to college. his mom absolutely adored the older brunette. jonah was also probably the first one to know about his disorder and therefore the best person to go to when he needed help.

"um, n-no? i don't think anyone's coming through. i think jonah's in the bathroom."

as if on cue, the door to the bathroom opened and jonah lazily spilled from the door, his hair damp as he moved a towel through his wet curls, "hey, who's on the phone?"

"my mom." corbyn informed the boy.

jonah smiled at that, casting his towel aside as he moved to fit his face into the screen beside corbyn, "hi mrs. besson!"

saskia smiled at her son's friend, "how many times have i told you to just called me saskia?"

"it's a force of habit, sorry mrs. bess- saskia."

corbyn moved away from his screen, letting his mom and best friend continue their small exchange of greetings before the two would ultimately come back to their favorite topic–him.

don't get him wrong, corbyn loved the care they both had for him but at times he wished they talked to him instead of about him. now, yes, he was prone to lying sometimes but it's only because he didn't want them to worry. and, yes, he recognized him lying only made them worry more, but–okay maybe his mom had the right idea asking jonah about him.

corbyn felt like pouting. maybe he was feeling a little switchy.

the brunette reached over to gently tug on jonah's hoodie sleeve, speaking when the brunette raised an eyebrow at him, "can we go for a walk?"

"you okay?"

"yeah, 'jus feel like isaac is coming out and i don't want him stressed out."

"yeah, 'course." the older said a quick goodbye to corbyn's mom on his behalf, "c'mon."

the brunette smiled gently as the breeze sailed across his skin, stronger winds combing through his hair. it was still pretty cold outside, the lingering effects of winter holding onto the temperatures as the boy shivered under his sweatshirt.

he felt isaac's presence a lot more and he wished the little didn't love nature as much he did. couldn't he find another interest? maybe an indoor one? he didn't want to spend the next few days randomly picking small twigs out of his fluff of hair, so he hoped jonah would prevent his alter from engaging in his new favorite hobby of collecting small leaves and such and storing them in their hair.

speaking of jonah, the older boy was brushing his shoulder up against his arm, partly to ground him, partly to know when isaac managed to make an appearance. (he had a tendency of being unsteady on his feet and even wandering off at times)

there were still some leaves on the ground that he found joy in stepping on and feeling the break of the twig under his shoe. his fingers went out of their way to reach out and poke and prod every tree or branch in arm's length. the small insects that flew up in his face close enough to hide their buzzing sounds in his ear somehow landed cupped up his palms, a small hole opened up just enough for the brunette to be able to peak inside to study the small bugs.

slowly corbyn felt his consciousness drifting, a lightheaded feeling rushing towards his body as he swayed on his feet for a moment, his eyes blank as he appeared to be studying the insect in his hands.

jonah looked over once he heard a small giggle sound from beside him. the brunette looked down at the boy next to him, one of his fingers coming up to pet the small caterpillar he'd captured in his palm.

"isaac?"

the boy released a distracted hum, letting his fingers curl out to allow the caterpillar room to crawl about. jonah wrapped an arm around the little's shoulder, tugging his body into his side. "what do you say we go get some hot coco? it's kind cold, isn't it?"

isaac perked up at that, finally removing his attention from the insect as he nodded along excitedly.
