I awoke to a sky of dark green, and then I realized I wasn't looking at the sky but at a roof of leaves. There were so many leaves I couldn't tell what the time of day was. I was surrounded by a forest of trees most of which didn't even exist on earth. It was then I realized that the experiment had gone terribly wrong. I was no longer on my planet and maybe not even in my own dimension.
Ah the experiment; what kind of an experiment was it? Why was I performing it? Before I can tell you that, I must first introduce myself. My name is Dr. James Roberts; I am a 30 year old scientific professor who studies and teaches about the theory of the space-time continuum. This means that I believe that there are many dimensions and that time is just a thing that can be traveled in and out of. If this theory is true people can change the history of one universe or another by killing a moth in the past. Making all universes fragile as glass so that they must be treated as such. Now to the experiment; what caused me to begin the experiment? It was actually one of my students. It was a normal day like any other; I came to the college and was teaching my classes as usual. I was teaching of the idea of time travel when one of my students, the smartest, a girl named Alexia, asked a simple question, "Dr. Roberts, how come, if so many believe in being able to travel through time and different dimensions, no one has ever built a machine and tested if it is possible?" I had no answer to that, which was rare for me, when it came to things I studied I always had an answer. It was as if I was in front of a beautiful girl and was too bashful to try to speak. My mind was completely empty of a response and I had to dismiss the class so I could think. I decided to ask my friends and colleagues Dr. John Johnson, an Irish man with red hair, and Dr. Karl Riconno, a happy carefree fellow, what their thoughts on the subject were. Over dinner we had a long discussion about it. The basic premise of the conversation was that it was an interesting idea. Dr. Riconno said that we had all the things we needed for the experiment. "I have the money, John has the equipment, and you Jimmy have the brains." Johnson agreed, "Yeah Jimmy, Rico is right. We can do this. It will be fun." So it was decided.
The next day it begun. I calculated the entire math needed. This took a good deal of time. Meanwhile John and Karl were out buying the necessary products and building the machine in the Riconno lab. I walked in and handed them my calculations. Once the machine was built I proclaimed, "We shall call her Alexia! In honor of my finest student." "Now to plug it in and test it", replied John enthusiastically. We had decided that I would be the first to try it out so I proceeded to hop inside. Riconno then plugged in the machine. The moment was upon us; I turned it on and Boom! There was a giant white flash and a loud bang. The last thing I remember seeing before I was knocked out was the horrible site of my fellow colleagues being swallowed by flames.
Now here I was alone. My friends were gone and I was lost without my machine and not knowing where I was. That is what I needed to find out. Where am I? When am I? Was I even alive? These answers could only be found by observance. So I got up and started walking.
