"Oh please, he's like a love sick puppy, he wouldn't ever fall for their slutty tactics." I explained, for the 100th time just this morning.
"You didn't see it Sky, they were sliding their hands all over his arms and giving him these dreamy eyes, and"-
I interrupt her quickly, "No offence, Linds, but i'm sure he gets enough from you, that he wouldn't think twice about another girl".

She opens her mouth in shock, and even Ariel with her earphones plugged in walking next to us let's out a choking laugh. Lindsay recovers quickly, narrowing her eyes at me and swatting my arms with her hands, but she soon starts laughing with us.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. When you two have a guy that sexy you wouldn't want to keep your hands to yourself either!" She tries to back herself up, flicking her bright blonde hair over one shoulder.

Her glossy hair trails down her tall, skinny body and frames around her flawless face. She is the epitome of every high schools head cheerleader, with bright blue eyes, long blonde hair and her amazing body. Except, unlike the typical cliches, she's not the bitchy cheerleader that steals your man, she's my best friend and one of the most down to earth people I've ever met. We've been best friends since we were seven years old, when a little bully stole her barbie doll and I shoved that bully in the sand pit.

Ariel, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. She joined the school three years ago and when some of the bitchy bimbos of the school tried to mess with her, we backed her up. She's got bright orange hair that cascades down her back, with pale green eyes and pale skin. She's named after the mermaid princess, and she looks the part too, always getting guys attention but never wanting it. She's more into indie music and poetry, and is an amazing artist.

Unlike Lindsay who is wearing a pink skirt, white tank top and white doc martin boots, with of course a pink scrunchie on her wrist, Ariel was wearing black jeans with high black doc martin boots, a black crop with a band on the front, no doubt an indie band, and her signature earphones in her ears, currently laughing with me at Lindsays statement.

I snort, "I don't think either of us would touch Chandler with a 6 foot pole and a-"

"Ooph" I grunt, interrupted, as a 6'2 rock hard wall knocks me down as I walk into it.
I look up to see two hard, beautiful grey eyes glaring down at me. Ah shit. Jace Brooks, the one and only resident bad boy of North High. But not in the so cliche way that he has girls hanging off his arm and a motorbike next to him. Oh no, this guy is so cruel and antisocial that he's never even been seen with a girl before, only hangs out with his two brooding friends, smokes, parties and causes a lot of trouble. And not to mention he's devastatingly handsome, like Calvin Klein model handsome, with dark curly hair, a gorgeous tan body that is both muscular and lean, with a strong jawline and plump lips. Uh, not that I find him that attractive or anything, but I can't deny the facts okay.

"Watch it, bitch" he spits down at me, his eyes hard as stone. Yep, but still an asshole. He starts to walk past me when I stand up quickly, against my better judgement and yell after him,
"If you weren't taking up the whole damn corridor then maybe I wouldn't have the pleasure of bumping into your royal dickheadness!" I growl, angry that someone's managed to ruin my day before first period even began. My two best friends next to me suck in a breathe, both from shock and humour, as they hold in any laughter.

I realise at the same time he does what just left my mouth in my burst of anger, and I watch as his face falters slightly from his always angry glare to one of slight amusement and humour. I suck in a short breathe, preparing for the worst, but just as quickly as it came, a blank expression covers his face as he spins in his black doc martin's and walks out the doors of the school. I let out a breath I didn't realise I was holding and turn my head to face my friends. Ariel bursts out laughing whilst Lindsay links her arm with mine, pulling me towards our first class and past the obvious onlookers staring at me with shock written all over their faces.

"Well, that was one way to start the new year", she slowly says, and the three of us giggle quietly.
"But seriously Sky, I wouldn't do that again if I were you, Jace Brooks is dangerous, everyone knows that, you're lucky he didn't kill you right then and there, I'm surprised he didn't actually." She says quietly, concern written all over her face.

I rolled my eyes at her worried expression, even though my heart was racing a million miles a minute.
"Chill, I'm sure he'll forget all about this by the time first period comes," I said assuredly, but deep down I was still scared shitless. It's not everyday someone stands up to the asshole we call Jace Brooks.. but maybe we should be. What gives him the right to treat people like that anyway?

I shrug off the irritated thoughts and turn my attention to my best friends. Lindsay smiles at me, happy with my reply, but I knew she wasn't completely letting it go. She gets distracted however when her long-time boyfriend and the schools loved quarterback, Chandler walks up to us by the lockers. Cliche, I know, but fortunately for us, this couple were genuine and had been together since we were all juniors. We were all friends when I told him to man up and find his balls to finally ask Lindsay out, since it was obvious to everyone but them that they were crushing on each other big time.

Chandler pulls Lindsay into a hug, wrapping his arms around her waist so that she was still facing us and could join the conversation.
"Hi baby," he said sweetly to her, kissing her on the forehead, making Ariel and I share a longing look to each other, knowing we shared the same thought. Oh, to be loved like that.

"Ariel", he nodded politely to her, "Satan," he nodded to me, laughter coming out his mouth. I rolled my eyes at him but returned the smile, "Lindsay's bitch," I nodded back at him.

His smile disappeared as his eyes widen in shock. I couldn't hold my laughter in as Lindsay and Ariel burst out their giggles, and soon enough Chandler joined, but still reminded me never to call him that again.

After chatting about the recent gossip, Chandler speaks up again, "So, you girls keen for Nathan's party tonight?" He looked around the circle for our answers.

Lindsay smiled brightly, of course she would want to go, and looked to us, her eyes wide, trying to convince us to say yes. Ariel was the first to give in, "yeah okay, I'm down." They all look at me, waiting.

"Fine." I groan, my head hitting back on the lockers, "I guess I could use a drink or nine after this morning." Lindsay squeals at this and even Ariel seems excited, whilst Chandler looks confusedly at us.

"Why, what happened this morning?" He asks innocently, Lindsay interrupts quickly saying she'll tell him later, whilst I remember the trauma of getting attacked by the devil. Well, okay maybe it wasn't that bad, but Jace is as worse as you can get in this school, and I'm not taking this morning lightly.

We all start to walk towards our classes, as buzz around us fills our ears from the other students in the busy hallways, most of which seems to be about the party tonight. Fun.

Thank you for reading the first chapter and I hope you enjoyed it! It's a bit slow for the start but it'll get there soon.
