PROLOGUE

Daisy, Cere, Sasha, and Barry all entered the Test Room with solum faces. Their uniforms all bloody and torn. Most of them felt the way they way their uniforms did. All except for one. Barry was on the edge of glory. His first real fight and even though they lost terribly, he was filled with adrenaline. Not even a loss could dampen his spirit. As the newest member of the team he had let Eddy, his first real friend, down. Eddy was the only person who believed in Barry at the beginning, but now the whole team trusted him.

Eddy had been taken the Emergency Evacuation Room, the EER. Everyone knew Eddy would be fine. Mostly because of his power. Eddy was on eating machine. Not literally but his body could withstand anything; extreme heat or cold, nuclear acid and he could eat anything he wanted and be fine. Extra strong muscles and bones made it almost impossible for him to be destroyed. Almost.

CHAPTER 1: Corran

Dr. Himelin walked me out of the ship onto the landing bay. The roar of the motor was slowing to a purr but the strong winds still kept everybody yelling to be heard. Dr. Himelin had a strong grip on my elbow, leading me towards the large doors built into the mountain side. He was pulling very hard and I did all I could to keep away from the menacing door. I was reluctant to leave the ship, but everybody keeps telling me this will be a better life for me. It didn't feel much like a life but more like slavery. The whole way here all I've been doing is learning about this planet and its ways. It was a two year journey from Cronith to Earth. I barely learned English, Mandarin, Hindi, and Spanish!

The large door opens and we pace inside. Men in bulky yellow lab gear are running around everywhere in a hurry. On a banner hung high on the ceiling reads WELCOME OBSIDIAN!

I scoff at the rudely draw picture of my planet below my code name. My real name, Corran, is no where in sight. Another sign that I am nothing but a lab rat waiting to be probed.

Whoopee! I sigh to myself. The room we were in seemed more like a hanger than a training room. Large metal walls were the only thing around me other than a large glass viewing room above the stadium sized room. The yellow men looked like bees working in a hive. Moving and removing objects and obstacles in and around the room.

I heard voices that weren't the mindless chapter of the worker bees. On the other side of the arena four teenagers walked toward the center, right where I was. Dr. Himelin had stopped dragging me and had now become the queen bee. After he let go he pulled on an orange suit and was giving orders off a clip board.

I look down at myself and realize I was still wearing my space suit. It was skin tight and not that appealing to look at. Orange and blue stripes with my name plastered across the chest.

Great, I thought to myself. Just what I wanted, to stand in a crowd of humans. I didn't have to worry for to long, because

Dr. Himeline was already directing me away from the growing crowd to a set if stairs going down. The stairs were covered with what looked like a submarine hatch to prevent water from flooding in.
