"Grandpa! Let us go!", Sīzhuī cried out trying to rip out of the disciples' hold. Being held back by strong lan sect disciples wasn't the problem, the only issue the twins had was that their granduncle had snatched their swords from them, refraining them from running back inside.

"No", Lan qiren deadpanned having decided not to even look at his grand nephews.

"They will be back soon, you can check on them later.", Jiang cheng said patting Sīzhuī's head to calm him down, whilst Lan Jingyi had already resolved into violence by trying to bite and kick his way out of the iron hold.

"What if he gets poisoned!? Let me go old man!", Jingyi cried out trying to get lan qiren's attention who rather seemed engrossed in some other work. Through the thick fog of the burial mounds Sīzhuī almost cried out in joy when he saw familiar figures walk outside.

"There they are", Lan qiren said sighing in relief, frowning the very next second when he saw how weak the two of them looked. Wei Ying's hands were wrapped around lan wangji's neck as a support, and the other man walked with Wei Ying slowly making sure that he didn't hurt him in anyways.

Ripping their hands away from the disciples they ran towards wei ying. Lan Zhan looked at his children with a firm look on his face asking them to stop in their spot at once.

"I'm fine", wei ying muttered pulling the twins closer to him by their arms. Lan Sīzhuī and lan Jingyi looked at wei ying concerningly and hugged him back at once.

"Just a little tired and traumatized", Wei Ying whispered with a slight huff in his tone. A nervous laughter coming out of his mouth when his legs have out on him suddenly.

"You aren't fine", Jingyi whispered through his tears bending down next to his brother to help wei ying get up.

"I had to watch them die all over again.", Wei Ying whispered with eyes shut down from his whole body going completely numb.

"I regret it.", Wei Ying laughed hugging his sons who didn't understand anything about what he was going on about.

"What do you regret?", Sīzhuī asked pulling away from the hug to see if his father was conscious anymore or not.

"I regret not killing her that day."

Wei Ying said one last time before he closed his eyes. A sole tear left his eye before he went completely limp.

"Hey, wake up", Sīzhuī shook his body trying to get some response from him. Wei Ying had just fallen asleep in his arms, but, why did it feel like his father was suffering a lot more then some physical pain.

"This kid, he's so scared that he thinks I will die.", Wei Ying chuckled eyes still clenched shut.

"Wake up.", Jingyi shook his shoulders receiving just a slight ragged breath.

"He's fine." Lan wangji reasured with a gentle look on his face.

"Go back to your granduncle, I'll bring him back when he is awake.", They nodded and slightly sniffled backing away.

The clan leaders had decided to go back to yunmeng which was the nearest clan. Since, their spiritual energy had not completely restored, they had finally come to conclusion that it would be the best to stay there for the day and hold a discussion about the alarming things that has happened today.

"Why do you have whip marks on your back?", Wei Ying whispered nuzzling his face into his crook.

"When I returned back to Gusu, a rumour had been spread all over the cultivational world.", Lan Zhan slightly stiffened before he started telling wei ying the truth.
