Chapter 1 ~ Sessions

'I HAVE to get out....'

"Alright let's start. Testing, Testing. Could you speak into the mic?"

"Hi, I'm Laurie Strode."

"Ok, that's good thank you. Laurie, I have a couple of questions, what made you...."

Spacing out. 

Her first time. Her first time being in a mental institute and first time killing someone. Her first time being away from Momma for so long, but in reality, it's only been a week. She feels like she's being punished, staying here. She didn't even do anything wrong, Judith, and her dumb boyfriend, and Ronnie deserved everything that came to them. She hopes Momma isn't mad at her.

'Mikey..' was all she repeated in her head as Dr. Loomis blabbered about that night and waited for an answer. 

"Laurie? Are you all right?"

She snapped back to reality but still silent, purposefully trying to ignore him. She didn't know him well enough and Momma told her to never talk to strangers. To her, he was one.

"Ahh, I see, you aren't comfortable with me yet. I understand, change can be really hard. How about I ask simpler questions? Questions that aren't about anything too heavy. I know you only just got here so I'll lighten up on you."

"Ok..." was all she said. Dr. Loomis gave a concerned look and sighed knowing she may be a bit difficult.

"let's start simple, how are you today?"

She paused for a moment, genuinely thinking.  "..I don't know, sad I guess."

"Why are you sad?" 

"I don't get to see Momma or Mikey. I wanna go back home.

"I see, well if it makes you feel better, you'll get to see your mother every weekend."

Laurie stopped, tears ready to flow out like Niagara Falls. She thought she wouldn't ever see her again.

With hope in her eyes, she jumped up and slammed her hands on the table. "Mikey too!?"

She had a big beautiful smile on her face, something she hasn't done in a long time.

"Maybe."

Laurie's heart fluttered with excitement. She sat down slowly, thinking about hugging her mom and coloring with Mikey again, like old old times... "When? When do I get to see them?"
