N I A L L

I sit on the edge of the hotel bed, desperately watching the clock as I anxiously wait for her to return. I begin to pace back and forth, replaying every word that was said and frantically imagining every terrible scenario that could happen to her as she walks alone through the hotel.

I was completely out of line, we both were but ultimately she was right.

I have just been so focused on work and Simon's expectations that I forgot about what's truly important; Lilli and Oilibhia.

I can't believe I couldn't answer those questions, it actually breaks my heart to see how much we have grown apart.

Lilli has been gone for over 3 hours and is blatantly ignoring my phone calls so I have no choice but to sit facing the door waiting for her to return.

Eventually, I hear the door creak open and Lilli walks into the room in a much more calm manner than she exited. She has obviously been crying, her blue hair is in a low ponytail, tangled at the bottom and her dark eyeliner has smudged all over her eyes but I still think she's absolutely gorgeous.

"Lilli, where have you been? Are you okay? I've been worried sick about you," I ask frantically, jumping up from my chair but she just looks at me sadly, her big eyes captivating and reminiscent of Oilibhia's.

"I went on a walk but don't worry nobody saw me, if that's what you were really asking," Lilli says so quietly that I can barely hear her.

She looks absolutely exhausted.

"No, I was just worried about you!" I say desperately, my hands aching to hold her small body but I keep my distance as I know that is what she wants for now.

"I think we need to talk," I start but Lilli shakes her head dismissively and begins to clumsily unpack her pyjamas.

"I'm exhausted, I'm going to sleep," Lilli states in a monotone voice, ignoring my sighs as I follow after her like a lost puppy.

"Okay." I sigh, knowing that once she has made up her mind she won't change it.

I strip down to my boxers whilst she brushes her teeth and takes off her smudged makeup and I climb into the large hotel bed, sleeping on my side of the bed.
