Hardin

I wake up with a sharp pain in the back of my head. I curse and groan, rubbing the back of my head and go back to sleep flipping over.

Suddenly I feel the mattress around me dipping and a presence behind me. The next moment I'm gripping a woman's neck pushing her into the bed.

She smirks.

"Ruby." I frown and quickly pull my hand back before I choke her to death. I step down the bed groaning and stroll over to grab my shirt from the couch.

"What in the devil's name you're doing here?"

"I guess I missed you." She smiles creepily and stares down my body. I smirk.

"You can be my breakfast today. Come here, I'll show you a nice trick with my eyes."

She laughs tipping back her head. "You don't remember last night, do you?"

I raise my brows. "Did you rape me or something? Trust me, I'll totally remember that."

"I remember everything, Hardin."

Her eyes look different when she stares at me. Something's not right. I frown when I sense she's going in an attacking stance.

Her next move is a whirl but I'm faster. I grab her wrists pushing her against the wall. I look at her shocked.

"Who turned you?"

She chuckles staring up at my lips.

"Answer me or I'm going to kill you." I glare.

"Can't compel me anymore?" She smiles. I groan and throw her across the floor. She stands up in a second looking like a very excited, irritating child.

"Get out. Go off to whoever nutcase turned you." I narrow my eyes at her crossing my arms over my chest.

"That's why I am here." She says in a sing-song voice.

"You want me find out who turned you? I'll check my Vampire group chat." I fake a grin. "Now kindly get out."

"You turned me, Hardin." She looks at me with awe.

"E-excuse me?" I say defensively. "That's preposterous!"

She frowned. "You're acting like I just told you I'm pregnant with your baby. You turned me, own it. You're my sire."

"Sire? Yo, what the fuck!" I snap at her. "I'm not in such businesses! Get the hell out of here. Shoo. Now." I growl pointing at my door.

But she directly walks up to me hooking her arms around me. "Remember when you fed me your blood and saved my life? Thank you." She looks at me dreamily.

"I was walking home after my shift at the Grill when someone attacked me. It was Ben, you know, the bartender I worked with? I...died." She says with tears in her eyes.

Fuckfuckfuckfuck.

"Alright..." I grab her hands and push them away from my body. "I'm extremely sorry for your death, Ruby."

"I know you are." She smiles. "I need you, Hardin. I match you, now. You're my sire. We'll always stick together."

"Eh hehe." I back away from her and hastily put my jacket on over my bare body. "Look, Ruby. It's twenty-first century, we don't need to cling with whoever turned us. Also, aren't you a feminist? You don't need a man to survive, do you?"

She ponders over it but then again grabs my arm. "But I need to be with you all the time."

"Argh, girl!" I shove her hand away from me. "No one is allowed to be with me all the time, alright? I kill all of them. I'm dangerous, fear me." I show her my fangs.
