i tossed and turned all night, anticipating the day ahead. i woke at 7, and hopped in the shower and got dressed. by 8, i was in the kitchen, talking to mum about the school year ahead. by 9, i was pacing around my room, double checking i packed everything. luckily, my trunk had already been sent away, so i could just pack things i would need for the train in my tote bag. i picked my bag up, having packed it the night before with my phone charger, robes to change into, airpods, a hairbrush and some gum. at 10, i was walking to kensington station to catch the 10:15 train to kings cross. it would get me there a bit earlier than i needed, but i thought it was better safe than sorry.
...
finally, i was on the hogwarts express. i walked along the corridor and found a girl sitting in a carriage with headphones in. i walked in.
"hey, is it ok if i sit" i say
"hi!! of course, i'm millie" the friendly girl says
"i'm ivy, nice to meet you"
"wait... your new right?"
"yup, pretty nervous"
the conversation went on, talking about coming from australia and why i moved. we talked for about 15 minutes before her 3 friends, oscar, theo and bella. we introduced and went through a similar conversation about australia. soon, the conversation changed into houses. oscar and millie were in gryfindoor, bella in ravenclaw and theo in hufflepuff. i wouldn't mind being in any of those houses, i thought as the train chugged along.
i wondered how cedric was going. he was probably on the way to his boarding school too.

at 3pm, i'm walking with millie up to mcgonagalls office to get sorted into a house. she tells me that she'll be waiting outside for me.
i step into the office, a sense of warmth surrounding me. mrs mcgonagall welcomes me with a warm smile. she explains the sorting hat to me and gently places it on my head.
... millie quizzes me as soon as i step out of the office.
"hufflepuff!!!" i say excitedly
she congratulates me, and walks me to the door of the common room.
before i walk in with the password mcgonagall gave me, she stops me.
"ivy!! i almost forgot, this afternoon at 4 we are having a little get together next to the black lake to celebrate back to school. a few friends will be there, including boys so look nice."
"nice!! i cant wait, thank you" i say
"i'll come and get you in 20 minutes, see you soon!" she says waving and walking away
i run up through the common room, not taking notice of anyone around me. i couldn't wait to check it out, but i couldn't be late to the lake. i found my dorm on the top floor, with a huge bay window and yellow decor all around. i couldn't wait to decorate it. my trunk was at the end of my bed, but the other two beds had nothing on them. i guess i have my dorm to myself, i thought.
i put on a cute denim mini skirt and a tiny pink top. the outfit showed off my hourglass figure and big bust. i put on mascara, pink lipgloss and some perfume, with 3 minutes to spare.
