I woke up to several sounds of metal cluttering from a nearby cubicle, but I couldn't decipher if it were from my left or right.
I wanted to stand up and take a peek, but it was just past three in the morning, and I could barely open my eyes, adjusting to the pale light of this hazy hospital.
I could feel the outside in a daze like a couple of shoes were pacing back and forth near our cubicles.
My heart began to beat in trouble.
Were you okay, Laurent? Were you fine? Was it you, or was it someone else?
The noise from outside suddenly became still after a few seconds, like the sea had undergone a tremor and had now past its climatic state.
It was then silent, peaceful instead, and I became calm too because I couldn't hear any sign of panic from the outside.
And there I slept again, looking forward to our homecoming. Just a few more days, Laurent, we're coming home.
