When she had checked into the overnight shelter that the Greenwood church provided, the lady had given her a look.

Nick was good at reading people. This specific look said, "Why are you all alone? A kid on the streets? By herself?"

Luckily, Nick was good at lying. She'd been lying through her teeth for the past year as easily as breathing.

"My dad is getting me in the morning... he's at a different shelter with our dogs. They allowed pets there, but could only limit it to one person so I came. I swear, I'm alright by myself."

The lady gave her a slight look like she didn't quite believe her, but she sighed and didn't question her past that.

"Here's a bag you can put stuff in. We keep it in a different room so no one steals anything overnight. You'll be sleeping on the cot 84B... it's down the hall to the right. Showers are in the morning from 5-6, if you miss it, you miss it. Breakfast is at 6:30, and then you need to be out. Lights out are at 9:30. If you cause any trouble you won't be welcome back."

Nick nodded stiffly and took the bag as the lady wrote down her new name. Mya Jones.

Nick wasn't sure if she liked that name, but it was the ID Will gave her. She'd have to stick with it. Her heart panged at the thought of Will, but she shoved it down and walked on to her cot.

"What did you say her name was?" the officer asked the Thompsons.

"Nicole... Franzelli. But she goes by Nicole Patterson as well. Sometimes she shortens her name to Nick as well." Liz was rambling on, Jeremy and Molly holding hands for the first time they had since they were 8 and 6. They were scared.

"She also goes by Nicole Masipag..." Jeremy cut in- remembering the fake ID he had seen when Nick had just barely first come to the house.

Molly gave him a questioning look, and he motioned for her to ask later.

"Geez... this kid sounds like she's used to running. Any idea where she might have gone?" the officer asked.

Ed shrugged. "We... we don't know. She just wanted to disappear. We're assuming she's going to try to find somewhere to stay tonight."

The officer nodded.

"We'll check tapes from the station, and look in the homeless shelters and hotels. Can we take this picture of her? We can make missing posters if needed."

Ed nodded, and with that, the officer left to begin the search for Nick.
