Mate?

The smell is so pleasant. I could smell it all day. It modified breathing into something magical. Okay. What the heck? I'm going insane. Hmm. I look over to Henry he's sniffing the air too.
" I smell it." I say. He looks over at me. His eyes widen. What's going on?
" Mate." He says possessively. What? Mate? I sigh.
" No. That's just.... no I can't have a mate." I say annoyed. I don't want a mate. He growls. I look over into his eyes and see anger mixed with pain.Ugh. I sigh again.

" Are you rejecting me?" He says with hurt in his voice. What?!
" No!!" I say loudly. He has a confused look in his eyes.
" Then what is it?" He asks. Ugh.
" Okay. I think people should fall in love with each other. Not be forced together." I say bluntly. He looks down.
" Henry. I'm not rejecting you. I would never do that." I say quietly. He still doesn't look at me.
" Henry look me in the eyes!" I snap. What's with the snappiness? Ugh. His eyes look up to mine.
" What?" He asks. Ugh. I sigh.
" Look me in the eyes and tell me if we weren't mated would you still feel the same way about me?" I ask. I already know the answer. No he wouldn't he doesn't even know me.
" No." He says truthfully. I can feel my wolf whine. Ugh.
" Exactly." I say looking down.
" Fine." He says sighing.
" What?" I ask looking back into his brown eyes.
" How about we act as if we weren't mates. How about we act like we are humans who met each other ?" He questions. My wolf growls. He raises an eye brow. Ugh.
" No." I say.

My wolf nods at that. Go away. I tell her. She rolls her eyes at me. Attitude much? Henry looks so confused. I'm confused myself. So much has happened today. I turn 16, my first shift, my first run, and now my mate. I'm not rejecting him. I would never do that. I just wish we weren't mated like we were just regular wolfs who met at a party or something and we got to know each other more. Then fall for each other. Then it hits me. I'm acting this way cause it's my first time being a wolf! I laugh. Henry looks at me.

" The reason I'm acting like this is because ......." I say nervously. What will he think? Why do I care? He sighs.
" Is because today I turned 16 and I just turned into a wolf today." I say quietly. A look of understanding crosses his eyes. I sigh.
" Oh." He says. I nod.
" Okay. Can we get to know each other a little bit better?" I ask. He smiles.
" Well duh." He says. I roll my eyes but smile.
" Good." I say. He smiles.
" Anna. Just to let you know. I will protect you no matter what." He says quietly. Awe. That has got to be the sweetest thing ever!
" Awe. Henry that's so sweet." I coo. A blush tents his face.
" Thanks." He stutters. Awe.
" Are you blushing and stuttering?" I ask. He shrugs and smirks.
" What are you talking about?" He asks. I laugh shaking my head. Then a yawn escapes my mouth. He laughs. Which causes me to laugh.
" Do you have a guest room? I'm not really comfortable going back home...... Moms not there dads not I'm an only child." He says sadly. Awe.
" Yeah. Come on." I say. He sands up.
" Thanks. This means a lot to me." He says quietly. I smile.
" No problem." I say. Zach is standing at his door. He growls. I snap at him.
" Stop with your growling. Now he's going to sleep in the guest room and if I hear you trying to bother him. I will be the first to get in a fight with you." I snap. Zach looks shocked.
" What's up with you?" He asks. Ugh. That's annoying. Why do people ask that?
" Nothing. Can you tell mom and dad?" I ask quietly. He nods.
" Sure." He says glaring at Henry.
" Thanks. Stop glaring at Henry." I say.

Zach looks at me for a moment then leaves. I grab Henry's hand which sends electric shocks up my arm. I smile and walk down the hall to the guest room. I open the door and see the plain bed with covers on it. Well this has been an unexpected day. I sigh and walk in with Henry behind me. I close the door turning on the lights. It's bright cause into me to look down for a second. Ugh. I hate when light does that. Henry walks in front of me to the bed and plops down. I smile and sit beside him.
" Okay. The bathroom is down the hall, past mine and Zach's door. The kitchen downstairs. I'll be next door if you need anything. Okay. Don't hesitate to ask." I say quickly.

He smiles brightly and gives me a hug. The hug sends little shocks through me and I embrace him. I lean my head on his shoulder. Oh, he smells so good! We just sit there for a moment hugging. It's quite comfortable. Then I pull back.
" Thanks." He mumbles. I smile.
" It's okay." I say. I yawn once again.
" Can you stay with me?" He asks. I look into his eyes and see him bring the puppy dog face. Awe. I'm never good at avoiding these. I sigh I'm defeat.
" Fine. I'll stay with you." I say. His light brown eyes, light up more. If that's possible. Awe. My wolf is jumping around. I smile.
" Now. Let's go to sleep." He says. I nod and crawl into bed. Wait. I'm going to get pjs on.
" I'll be right back I'm getting into some pjs." I say. He nods and I go to my room and see Zach on my bed. I grab some pjs and stand there.
" Zach?" I ask. He looks at me.
" He's your mate." He says slowly. How does he know?
" How do .... What?" I ask confused. A small smile enlightens his face.
" Your protective over him and I can see it in y'all's eyes." Zach says. Oh. I nod.
" Yeah...... Well I'm sleeping with him in the guest room tonight." I say. I've never said anything that came out so awkward in my entire life. Zach looks up at me.
" Anna." He says warningly. I roll my eyes.
" Oh grow up. I'm not like that." I say. He nods.
" I know but I don't know him." He says. I roll my eyes.
" I'm changing so get out. Goodnight love ya." I say ushering him out of my room.

I shut the door and strip out of my clothes and change into my pjs. A large shirt and short shorts. Hmm. Whatever. It's not like I'm doing anything. We are just going to sleep. But my wolf sighs. What? I ask her. She howls. I cover my mouth from letting it escape. Okay. I look in the mirror once more and slip out of my room. Then I quietly go down the hall to the guest room. Henry is in bed. I shut the door quietly behind me and go over to the other side of the bed. I get under the soft covers and close my eyes. Henry puts an arm around my waist pulling my back closer to him
" Goodnight Anna." He whispers sending shivers down my spine.
" Night." I say closing my eyes once again.

I can feel his breaths fanning across the back of my neck. Hmm. I can't seem to fall asleep. I close my eyes and try again. This time I do fall asleep. Into a peaceful, silent, restful, comfortable, good, dreamless, deep sleep. It feels nice. I know I won't want to wake up in the morning. I feel so good. My head is on the soft pillow and Henry's arm is still across my waist but it's comfortable not awkward like I would have thought. Me and Henry can get to know each other better. Maybe I'll fall for him. Or hopefully we will fall for each other.
