I had seen the person standing at the top of the staircase and felt myself inexplicably drawn towards them, not knowing anything but them, but as I approached, I saw a dark-skinned guy with black hair styled to stand up. He was very strongly built, with wide shoulders, large muscles and a strong, square chin. I felt like I was melting; I’d known for a time that I was bisexual and with guys like this out there, could you blame me? I very much doubted he felt the same way about me.

“Wow. You are hot,” I said, not knowing anything else to say. He smiled a little.

“I am a son of the sun god,” he smiled. “I’m Kyle.”

I looked around, but no one else stood close to me so I looked back at him, “Uh Daniel.”

“You look nothing like Percy,” he spun around and walked off. “Follow me!”

“Where are we going?”

“Not far, I just need to speak with you.”

There was no chance of me not following and we walked a short while to the edge of a dark forest. Kyle leaned against a tree and sighed, then drew a white knife and twirled it between his fingers. He flicked his hand and the knife impaled a tree, quivering a little.

“Listen, your sister had a dream last night, and I’m not sure if she’s shared it with you but after the Earth Mother was defeated, a few other primordial gods began stirring. Daniel, they’re scared. Scared and angry: mostly divided 50/50, some think that the Olympians are trying to eliminate them, even though under the Olympian Regime only one primordial was killed, nonetheless, the others believe that the Olympians have the right to rule and so they are preparing to fight. A war is coming, Daniel, one that can tear the universe apart, and you, and me, have been chosen as pawns,” Kyle told me. He seemed to retreat into herself for a moment before locking eyes with me. His eyes were a deep red, like that seen just before the sun sets. “Nyx, the goddess of night, wants us to fight for her. If you refuse, I’ll have to leave Camp Half-Blood without you, but if you accept, we can stay for a while longer.”

“But… What does that all mean?” I asked, confused.

“Nyx will explain all when we go to see her,” he said, “If we go see her.”

“What about my sister?”

“Erebos, the god of darkness, wishes her. Worry not, for Darkness fights on the side of Night, the side of the Olympians.”

“Oh alright. I’ll think about it,” I sighed. We stepped out the forest and I saw the sun was almost set. I turned just in time to see a cloud of darkness swirl around Kyle before he disappeared. I walked over to the Pavilion myself.

“Good to see you’re alive. Who was the person?” Skye said, moving her rice around with a fork. She’d barely spoken to me while we were eating but now that everyone was pretty much done, she spoke.

“A guy, his name was Kyle. His father was the god of the sun, he just wanted to see if Percy was as good as people said and basically we just spoke about sword fighting” I said, evasively. Not even my sister knew about my real feelings.

“That’s Apollo. But I’ve never heard of a Kyle,” Percy said. Percy, Skye and myself sat at the Poseidon table, which didn’t look any different from any of the others, but it was a tradition or something to sit at different tables.

“Attention please,” Chiron called, silencing everyone, “The teams shall be: Cabins 1-10 are Red Team and 11-20 are Blue Team. You have five minutes to prepare. Begin!”

Everyone cluttered everywhere, and the first to get full control was the Athena Cabin, who would be on our side. I saw Annabeth standing with her siblings and calling out.
