In the aftermath of a tragedy that brought Japan to its knees, 14 Ultimate Students awaken at an academy high above the clouds. Any plans of restoring hope and honor to the title of Ultimate Students is long gone, as the principal has only one thing...
We arrived to the elevator to find a boy pounding on it, shouting every profanity he could think of. Hammer rushed past me, and cornered the kid. "Citizen! You are in public! That is no way to conduct yourself! Please cease at once!"
The kid turned around, and pressed himself against the elevator door. "Woah, woah! Chill out, man! I'm just using the elevator, don't hurt me!"
I made my way over, and put my arm in front of Hammer. I'm sure that wouldn't do anything, though. The guy's huge. "Hey, super hero. He's just a kid, chill."
Almost immediately, the kid got in my face. I guess he was trying to intimidate me, maybe? Short kid, so I'm not sure what he expected. "I am not a kid, dumbass! I'm vertically challenged, that's all! You got that?" He wiped a tear from his eye, still trying his hardest.
"Uh, are you crying?" I asked, trying not to laugh.
"They're-they're not boo-hoo tears! They're angry tears god damn it!"
As we argued, the sound of footsteps behind us made us go silent. We turned around to see a tall boy walking up to us. He played with the collar of his jacket as he strutted right up to Hammer. "Ladies, please. Move your little disagreement out of my way, some of us need to use the elevator."
He pushed past us, and pressed the button. "Who the hell do you think you are?" I asked, turning to face him.
"Alex Hawthorne, Ultimate Dungeon Master. It's a pleasure to meet me, I know." The elevator then opened, and he stepped inside. Before we had a chance, he pressed the down button, and waved as the door shut in our faces.
"Have no fear, I will solve this!" Hammer shouted, grabbing the door. The short kid and I watched in amazement as he pulled the door open like it was nothing. Inside, Alex stood, stunned.
He stomped his foot, leaning toward the hero. "Are you out of your mind!?" Hammer just laughed, and held the door open as we stepped inside.
"Consider yourself defeated, evil-doer!" he exclaimed, striding into the elevator, allowing the door to slide shut. "I, as a good natured man, cannot allow an act of injustice like that to take place."
Alex leaned against the wall. "I am surrounded by idiots," he sighed. The elevator ride was silent. I'm not sure if it was out of fear or shock. Maybe both, who knows? The doors slid open, and we stepped into the main hall of the dorm building.
"Hey, kid. I never caught your name. Who are you?" I asked, turning to the short kid.
He perked up, and looked over at me. "Oh, I'm Ace. Ace Williams, the Ultimate Esports Player!"
I laughed, and shook my head. "So you play video games for a living? You know esports aren't real sports, right?" I barely had time to finish my sentence before he tried to push me over. I barely moved, and kept laughing.
"That is enough, citizens," Hammer said, stepping between us. "The first impression you gave me was that you were a person of good morals. You are not a villain, are you Daisuke?"
I didn't like the sound of that, so I backed away. "We're cool. No hard feelings, right?"
"Go to hell!" Ace shouted. He made his way past us, and headed for the exit.
"Daisuke, listen well. It will do you well to get along with your classmates. Do you really want to spend your entire time at this academy with people you hate? That's no way to go through life."
I shrugged, and walked past Hammer. "Whatever, man. I don't care." Hammer and Alex followed us to the door, and we made our way out of the dorm building. We stepped outside into the fresh air, and the sight that met us outside was nothing less than astonishing.
The entire school appeared to be surrounded by a glass dome.
