I lie under the thin hospital sheets, unable to move. I can't even open my eyes at this point. There's nothing left for me in this world so all I can do is focus on the noise. Coughing, beeping, shuffling, and the quiet sobs of my dad. Suddenly, I feel the warmth of my kid brothers hand as it curls around mine.
"Don't go," I can barely hear him whisper and from the way his voice cracks, I can tell he's fighting back tears. Markus is twelve, he doesn't deserve to go through this pain. I try to force my eyes open but it proves futile. Gods, all this noise is annoying. It feels as if everything's just being drowned out by white noise. I don't want to leave Markus, I don't want to leave Dad, I don't want to die! I can hear my heart rate monitor speed up, there's panicked shuffling and someone ushers Markus away from me. No, Bring him back! I don't want to leave him!
I don't want to die.
I don't want to die.
I don't want to die.
I. Don't. Want. To. Die.
For a split second, there's this annoying ringing in my ears then everything falls silent.Word count: 208
