Chapter 1 - "The Proposal"

Harry Potter, a student studying at Hogwarts School of Magic and Wizardry, was blinded as sunlight awoke him from his sleep. He glanced over at the bed next to him and saw his best friend, Ron, snoring away. "Ron!" Harry grumbled. A slight mumble came from the red headed Gryffindor. "Ron wake up." Harry then got up out of bed. Ron opened his eyes, making low grumbling morning sounds. Harry took this as a sign that he was slowly waking up, so he started off to get a shower.

"Draco! Drayyyyy" rambled Pansy Parkinson, a black haired Slytherin girl. "What Pansy.." Draco mumbled. "Wake up or we'll be late!" The girl whisper yelled.

The Great Hall was being filled with routy students wondering why they were excused in the middle of their classes. Professor Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts, ordered silence amongst the students. "I'm sure you all are wondering why you're here. Well, the staff and I have come to the conclusion that in order to stop the rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor, you will each be assigned a partner from the opposite house." Whispers broke out upon the crowd of students. "In your next class," Dumbledore continued, "your professor will assign you your partner."

The Golden Trio walked together to their next class, Potions, with Professor Snape. "I'm dreading having to be paired with those Slytherins", Ron said. Hermione sighed, "Maybe we should try to let go of our grudges against them and try to become friends? Or at least have mutual feelings towards each other." "Bloody hell, Hermione. What has gotten into you?" Ron questioned. "Ron, maybe Hermione is right. This rivalry is very childish, and after all we are sixth years now", Harry said. Ron let out a huff. "If you guys say so.." Ron said in an uncertain tone. They then approached the Potions classroom.

After all the students had settled down, Professor Snape began his proposal on how students will not give a fuss about their partners. He then continued, "Now, let's begin. Hermione Granger will be paired with Pansy Parkinson. Blaise Zabini will be paired with Ronald Weasley. Draco Malfoy will be paired with Harry Potter. Goyle..." Snape led on. The Gryffindors exchanged looks of shock and terror as they each had been paired with their sworn enemies. The Slytherin Trio, Pansy, Draco and Blaise did the same. Once Professor Snape had concluded reading off the pairs, he began the second half of his speech to his students. "Now, you and your partner will be getting your own dormitory. You also will be partners in school activities as all of the professors are notified who your partner is. You will be seated next to each other in all classes. Moving on, you may have noticed that you might not be.. very fond of your partner. That is the point of this movement, to end your childish rivalries that you have carried on for an unnecessary amount of time." He glanced specifically at the two trios. Once class had ended, Harry walked to his new dorm because he had finished all of his classes.

Harry plopped onto his new vibrant red bed. He glanced over to the dark green bed on the other side of the room, where soon Draco Malfoy, his sworn enemy, would lay. Harry mumbled, "It just had to be you, Malfoy."
