cole and jay sat at rickety wooden table at a bar, very late at night. neither of them could sleep, so they came here instead of tossing and turning all night.
cole held a mug of bubbly beer, and jay sipped some whiskey.
they knew alcohol at this hour wasn't a very wise idea, rather stupid actually because if they got drunk there'd be no excuse for them to tell master wu. not to mention they had a mission the next day, helping out and doing odd jobs around ninjago city.
cole always at least tried to keep track of how many drinks he had; but jay didn't even attempt. he didn't drink lots anyway, so he never got the chance to make it a habit.

music pulsed throughout the dingy bar, people chatting loudly. (for some drunkenly as well)

jay downed another glass of whiskey, chuckling.

"i'm still not even tired at all." he said. "i could go for hours and hours, no one could stop me."

cole raised an eyebrow. he knew jay shouldn't drink any more, otherwise he'd just go overboard and get drunk. jay was bad with his limits.

"hey, jay, don't drink any more ok buddy?"he said, taking another sip of the golden yellowy liquid.

"pshh." he dismissed it casually.

he stood up from the table, not even bothering to push he chair in like he always did so politely.

"im going to the bathroom!" he said, and quickly disappeared.

the earth ninja sat there, sighing.

about ten minutes had passed, jay wasn't back yet.

fifteen minutes.

twenty minutes. this was ridiculous.

twenty five minutes, jay was still not back yet. cole cut him some slack so far because he usually took a while in the bathroom, but never this much.
he started to worry.
he got up from his table to go check on him in the men's washroom. on the way there, passing by people who smelled like cigarettes and weed.

then he spotted the said ninja across the bar on a stool, chatting and drinking.

he stormed over, pissed off that jay hasn't listened to him at all.

jay beamed when he came over, raising his half empty glass and spilling some on the counter.

"heeeedeeyyy coleeee!!" he said lazily.

coles brown eyes spotted the collection of whiskey glasses in front of him, sighing in annoyance and slight disappointment.

"jay, i specifically told you not to drink anymore!!" he said, inspecting the glasses. more whiskey.

this wasn't good. not good at all.

jay laughed and rolled his head back on his shoulders to stare at cole. he twitched anxiously; he didn't like being stared at most of the time.

"oi, kid, that'll be fifty bucks." the bartender said, leaning his hands on the countertop in patience.

jay cocked his head.

"huuuuh?" he dawdled.

cole fished out his wallet, taking the money and sliding it across the table. the bartender took it and moved on to serve another customer.

"you, mister, are coming with me. let's go home." he said, holding jays arm with a gentle, but at the same time firm grip.

jay got up off the barstool, and his knees buckled. he started falling, but cole immediately caught him, his one arm sling around his shoulder to support him.

jay only seemed to realize he almost fell a few moments after he was caught.

"whee." he said, flashing small, a toothy grin.

the earth ninja thought it was the most adorable thing he'd ever seen.

he ushered him out of the bar, and they walked down the dark, silent street; one slightly buzzed from his beer, the other completely drunk and acting foolish.

jay hugged coles neck, slumping down further. his knees turned inwards and bent, shaking slightly.

"coooole give me a piggy back ride! i can't walka-walk." he whined.

damb he could be annoying sometimes, cole thought. but he never really got tired of him; it was his sweet spot.

he let the lightning ninja climb up on him, and he lifted up his legs to carry. jay wasn't much smaller than himself, he was rather lean, actually. coles frame was bigger, naturally, but not by much. he could still carry the guy fine.

jay hugged his arms around coles neck, resting his head on the back of the other's.

the sober ninja's heart skipped a beat. the blue ninja was always a very affectionate guy, but even the nuzzling and cheek rubbing he started doing just now was unusual. in a way his behaviour remind him of a cat.
jay rubbed his cheek on the back of coles head, and smelled the wonderful scent of his hair. it was fresh and sweet, like a quality shampoo. it made his drunk self feel at complete ease.

he moved his head closer to coles ear.

the earth ninja sweated profusely, he could feel the boys breathing on his skin, driving him mad.

"hey, mmm... you're cute." he whispered, then closed his eyes and rested his head on his shoulder.

cole stopped breathing. he could not believe jay had just said that to him.

"hey, why'd we shtop walking..?" jay said, raising his head.

cole didn't answer, he stared ahead down the street absentmindedly.

did he hear that correctly? or... did jay really just call him cute?

...it ends here, sorry. i wrote this a while ago and just found it. i don't remember what i was going to write next, and i don't feel like picking it up again lol
