It was a cold and stormy night, the weather outside was grey and ominous with a tinge of something peculiar in the air; something was bound to happen on a night like this. But the people inside the house were oblivious to the troubled weather outside.

A man in his early twenties was conjuring up puffs of colored smoke for the enjoyment of two babies on the couch, his wife was standing in the doorway watching her husband entertaining their children, and if one took a good look at them you would never guess that their lives were in any kind of danger.

A low rumbling brought the mother back to the present; she walked over to her husband and took one of the twins in her arms, a baby boy with jade green eyes and a tuft of black hair. He giggled as his mother nuzzled his neck.

"James, I'm going to put Harry and Aleah to bed now," she said as she took the small girl into her arms too, she was heading up the stairs when she heard the front gate creek, she stopped for a moment to listen, when she heard nothing else she shrugged and walked up the stairs. Perhaps  - she thought - it was Crookshanks, she has not yet returned from outside.

James threw his wand on the couch and was about to follow Lily to put the twins to bed when the front door burst open with a blinding light, James froze for a second thinking that the thunder must have caused the door to fly open, he rushed to the door to find a hooded figure standing inside the door frame.

"Lily! Run!" James yelled as he rushed to the sofa to retrieve his wand, "It's him, take Harry and Aleah and run! I'll hold him off," he called out bravely to his wife.

Lord Voldemort chuckled as he advanced on the man, what a pity he though as he descended upon him, he was a pure-blood but he could take no chances, they had to die...

"Avada Kedavra!" Voldemort said lazily pointing his wand at James Potter. James fell to the floor like a puppet whose string has been cut. Dead before he even hit the ground. Lord Voldemort strained his ears and a smile spread across his snakelike face as he heard the woman upstairs whispering to her infants.

He steadily made his way up the stairs listening intently at the distressed mother, lying to her brats about what was happening, promising them that it would be okay. Voldemort's smile spread and satisfaction was on the edge of his lips, he blast the door open and entered the nursery where Lily was with the two babies.

He laughed as she threw herself between him and the two infants, as though she; a mere mudblood; could save them from him, he threw his head back and laughed at her pitiful plea's.

"You will not touch them, Tom." Lily said glaring daggers at the intruder. His eyes flashed as she said his name and she knew that death was inevitable.

"Move aside you silly girl, move aside and I will spare you..." Lord Voldemort snarled at her.

"No, don't hurt them. Not Harry! Not Aleah!" she pleaded. Lord Voldemort was getting tired of these mudbloods and blood traitors telling him what he can and cannot do.

"I said move aside you stupid girl!" Lord Voldemort roared as he pointed his wand straight at Lily's heart, she had her arms stretch out at her sides as though that was shielding the children from him, he sighed.

"Step aside and I won't kill you, but they have to die. Severus would be so distraught if something happened to you," Lord Voldemort said but Lily would have none of it.

"If you want to kill Harry and Aleah, you'll have to kill me too." She said, tears in her eyes as she glared at the red ones that was Lord Voldemort's.
