i shiver and hold my hand over my mouth, praying it cant hear my cries. A low rumbling snarl can be heard from close by. The snow glistens in the moon light. Large heavy steps echo loudly through the trees. Slowly getting louder and heavier. i freeze, holing my breath completely and very slowly turn to my left, till im face to face with a horrifying image. A tall a shodow like figure stood before me, but its dripiing a drool like slime all in the snow. Its breath is cold but heavy. its teeth were is rows of 3. Sharp but pearly and white. a good portion of them were chiped or damaged. i took a deep breath to scream when it jumped out at me. I sit up in my bed, breathing heavily and looking around frantically. i take a deep breath and take in my surroundings. "just another nightmare." i whisper to myself. Dust can be seen floating in the sunlight coming in through my window. I tuck my hair behind my ear and out of my face. Jumping as my mother shouts "Amelia Hayes!! Breakfast is done!!" "Be down in a mintue!!" i shout back.
Scrambling out of bed and over to my closet i grab one of my day dresses. It has long sleaves and a tight neckline. once its on i stand infront of the mirror and take a deep breath. Preparing myself for another day. i walk out of my room and down the stairs, getting shoved into the stairwell wall by my little brother who is excited for another day at school. As much as i would like to scold him, my parents would have my head if i spoke rudely to their precious baby. When i sit down at the table i greet my parents. "good morning mother, good morning father." mother was serving us our breakfast, "Good morning my loves." once the plates were of the table our mother kissed our foreheads and began cleaning the house. My brother was scarfing down his food like and animal and my father was reading the news paper. i ate my over cooked eggs without making a face as not to upset my mother. once we were done eating we were to head back to our rooms to get ready for school. This was the morning routine, every morning of every day. I headed back to my room and sat down at my small desk. I proceed to put my hair up and put on my bonnet. I grab my journal and put on my socks. Me and my brother head back down stairs to the door to put on our shoes. my mother helps my brother put his coat on as i put on mine. Lastly i put my journal in my cloth bag and head out the door after Mother kisses our foreheads one last time.
"alright Charlie, now stay close to me remember?" my brother nods and skips his way down the trail just a few feet in front of me. We dont live close to the village, but Father has warned us not to leave eachothers sides while leaving the home incase of strangers. Its fall, so there are losts of crunchy leaves to walk on. One of mother natures great grifts. The crunch thats made when ever i step on them brings me a calming joy. Though my brother doesnt seem to care as he walks through every muddy puddle he can. "Can you not get all dirty before school?" i say with an irritaded tone. Charlie turns around and sticks his tongue at me. "You're not my boss." i clench my fists and take a deep breath as to not yell at him. He would surely tell our father if i lost my temper.
As we are approaching the village Charlie and i split our ways due to our schools being in two different sides of the village. I clutch my bag in fear of robbers till i see my dearest friend waiting for me at our meeting tree. "Why good morning Amy! did you sleep well?" she asks, approching me with such a bright smile. "Indeed i did Marry. How about yourself?" we began walking together. "i had the most wonderful dream that i met my true love! he was so tall and handsome, dark brown hair and a french accent. Doesnt that sound dreamy?" she flutters in excitment. "That does sound rather enticing." i give her a small smile. "what did you dream of Amy?" "i dreamt of a beautifle flower garden filled with daffodils, and a well taken care of farm." "By golly that sounds wonderful. Sounds like something you should write about." We laugh together for a few moments. "do you think you could come over this weekend?" "I'd have to ask Mother. but i sure it will be fine with her."
We approuched the school and i open the door for her, she nods her head with a soft thank you and i follow behind her. we put up our coats on the coat rack and head to our seats. Our teacher, Mrs.Merton was still writing todays lesson on the board. My seat is placed in the second row, closest seat to the aisle. Arther was puting some wood into the furnace, but other than that everyone was in their seats. though no one was quiet. everyone was talking with whoever was sitting next to them, sadly i was not seated with anyone i liked. i didnt have any other friends accept Maryanne. ive known her since the age of 8 and that is the only reason i am still by her side. Without her i would have no one, and having someone is better than having no one.
Mrs.Merton turns around and grabs her ruler and proceeds to slap it off her desk, making everyone quiet down and look in her direction. "Alright class! todays lesson is Multiplication. please grab your chalkboards and chalk." She taught us our lesson, made us answer questions, and write down answers just like any other normal boring day. When lunch rolled around we all headed outside. I head over to my usual table and take out my journal. i always sit alone due to Mary having much more friends than I, and im far too poor for mother to give me a lunch. So i just sit alone and write to my hearts content. Today i decided to write about the nightmare i had. half way through the second paragraph, my journal is ripped away from me.
"ooohhhh whats this? Ya writing a story? what about?" Frederick teased, holding my journal high in the air excpecting me to grab it from him. but instead i sit in my seat and look at him with a blank face. "betcha its about those dumb flowers you keep blabbering about" Walter squawked. "its none of your business, pig face." i snap back, making him furrow his eye brows "why i outa-" "easy there Walt, shes just trynna ruffle your feathers. dont let no smart mouthed lady get under youre skin." Freddy huffed and tossed my book into the mud. I scoff and look at him in disbelief as he walks away. once they are out of sight i grab my book back and clean it off best i could. Lucky enough it had landed cover fist into the mud, so no pages got hurt.
