Sound

Mom calls out for breakfast
And you don't hear it.

You aren't asleep,
You're awake.
Wide awake with an old monster drink.

But where was the sound?

It
Is
Quiet

What is this?
Help
Help me
Please

A crumbling world.
It's leaving.

Mom comes up angry.
She yells but you don't hear.
It's like lip sync
But without the sound to go along with.

You speak.
But you don't hear your own words.
It's like you're

You can feel and see,
But no sound.
Silence.

Something is wrong.
You had known since you could sense the warmth,
But not the dragon like furnace,
Growling at you.
Roaring at your mind.

Tears.
The make trails,
On your rosy cheeks.
No more music.
Only the death of your heart.

Breaking in two.
No more concerts.
No more real talking.
Writing.

You're hugged tight.
Mom doesn't know how to feel either.
Comfort isn't helping.
You want to find the music's killer.

And there's only one culprit.

The earbuds.
The shocking earbuds.
It only happened every so often.

But last night was strange.
They electrocuted your ears.
So you took them out and didn't listen to music.
You were just fine that night.

But you aren't fine now.
This ruined your life.
No. More. Music.
Nothing.

Shhhhhh.
This is all wrong.
Right?
No. No more.
Just the quiet is your friend now.
