Chapter 17:
Amy's POV:
"So, you are coming to my Christmas and New Year's party, correct?" Charlotte asked me as my car pulled up. I hugged my jacket closer to me, as it was below freezing outside.
"Of course! I wouldn't miss it for the world!" I replied, hugging her.
"Okay, see you then!" She waved as I walked over to my parents.
"Hello sweetie!" My mother greeted me, kissing me on the head.
"Hi Mummy. Hi Daddy." I replied, waving to each of them.
"Ready to go?" My dad asked, taking my small bag.
I nodded my head as I stepped into the back seat of our car. Home was only a short drive away, about twenty minutes. However, when it was rush hour, it could take up to and hour.
I stared at my home as I was exiting the parking lot. School was home. But now I guess I was going to my real home, the home I grew up in. I waved to Charlotte, who was still waiting with Maggie to be picked up. I giggled a bit, remembering how their parents were occasionally late.
There was one thing I was dreading about going home over this Christmas Holiday. Dylan. I don't know if I can face him after what he did. Sure, I forgave him, but facing him in person was one other thing.
I sighed, watching the fields flow past us. In about ten minutes, we should be entering the busy streets of London, away from the peace and paradise.
"So Amy," my Mum began. I reverted my gaze from the window to the front seats, "Meet anyone cute this year?"
I smirked and shook my head. No way was I telling my parents about Liam right now, they were just going to have to figure it out for themselves.
My Mum smiled smugly as she turned back around in her seat. The rest of the ride home was nice, my parents mainly asking me about my grades and classes. It was my second to last year of school, and I had to figure out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. However, I had already told my Mum that I wanted to become an actress. But she insisted on me having a 'fall back' plan.
"Where's Michael?" I asked, referring to my younger brother.
"He's at home," my Dad replied.
"By himself?"
"Oh no!" My Mum said, "The sitter is with him."
"Oh."
My Dad suddenly slammed on the brakes, causing me to lurch forward.
"Sorry," he panted, "Squirrel."
I giggled as we continued our drive home. It was nice to be going back to my house for winter break. I missed my family as well as my dog, Dexter. Being in a boarding school may be fun, especially at St. Mary's, but I get homesick very easily.
Of course, we got stuck in the 'stop and go' traffic, and it took us a while to get to our fairly nice and large house. I smiled when we pulled up in front of our driveway, my home looking just like when I had left it.
There was creme siding along the house, and light colored stones on some parts of the structure. It was definitely a house that invited you in, with its warm grey roof and tidy landscaping.
I carried my small bag up to the porch, and walked in through the door. I breathed in the familiar scent of my house; Cinnamon and apple. I don't know why it always smells like that in here, but I really liked the scent, it made me feel warm and happy.
