Another day without food. Sooner or later we'd die from starvation. Dehydration wasn't a problem with the nearby river. Still I had no weapon. Still I had no plan. We couldn't just stay out in the middle of the forest our whole lives. Well I could bare it. Arlo on the other hand couldn't last a week. He was barely lasting our two days. Not to mention we reeked. With no way to take a bath we had a very...interesting smell. Smoke, sweat, and blood. Mix that all together and you get a horrible smell. Not one of us dared to go in the river. We'd rather stink than risk hypothermia.

Arlo mainly kept to the cave. I walked around exploring, promising Arlo I'd yell if anything happened. Him taking older brother protectiveness to a whole new level. I walked on. Reminiscing about the times before the fire. It seemed like a whole other life time rather than three days ago. Arlo's tried to stay strong, but I see the tears he sheds when he thinks I'm not looking. I feel like I should comfort him, but comforting has never been easy for me. It's always awkward. So I let him believe that I see nothing. It's how we function.

I was so lost in thought that I walked off way too far. The sun was already setting. Arlo would go ballistic if I wasn't back soon. I was about to head back when I heard something odd. I climbed up a tree quickly and looked for the source of the sounds. I spotted two men. One with a musket another holding a bow with arrows slung on him. A bow. I need that badly, but I can't fight against that with no weapon. I was about to sneak off when I saw something that broke my heart.

Laying on the ground was an animal that once had beautiful white fur, now it was stained with a terrible color of red. I snapped. That was enough for me to put those two vile creatures in their place.

It was so late. The orange and red sunset had already come. The problem was that Nyx wasn't back yet. I know I should have faith in her, but it's my instinct to worry. I have the problem of thinking of the worst situation that could happen. I decided to try and find her. I walked off, but I didn't dare call her name. I learned my lesson after the doe incident. Deep breaths were needed to help calm myself down. I walked on until something caught my eye.

I saw Nyx. I was about to call out to her until I saw the scene around me. My little sister holding a bow with an arrow already in place for a shot. A wolf with a stained coat. What once was a beautiful white was now stained red. But the most gruesome part of it all was the snow at my sister's feet. Dark red.

I thought I had imagined the worst back at the cave. I was very, very wrong. Oh yes I was.
