Author's Note: I was overcome with the urge to write about our lovely bookworm, Xingqiu. This will be edited and revised eventually, but at the time it's been posted (and most likely long after), I am too tired right now. Reader is gender neutral. This is kinda bland fluff, but enjoy regardless!

Xingqiu carefully considered the words he would say to you. He read countless books with romantic plots and took notes upon notes on them. He wanted to do it right, because that's what you deserve. You shared his love for reading, oh, the way you'd glow when you had your nose buried in a good book. When you weren't reading, you were talking, and ever did he love your soothing voice. The intoxicating sound of your laughter, how you hummed to yourself when you thought no one was listening. Your kind heart, how you are passionate in everything that you do, and your intelligence. He could fill a library writing down all of the things he loved about you and it still wouldn't be enough.

First, he wrote letters. He then realized his boyish calligraphy was a bit unromantic and unreadable. Later, he resorted to poetry, and though he could present it orally, it would be too long. He thought through then got rid of several other plans. Sighing in defeat, he said to himself,

"It looks like I will have to come up with something on the spot. Spontaneity can be attractive when done correctly, I suppose."

Today, you had chosen to meet up with Xingqiu to have lunch and hang out. As you waited, you became more and more nervous, as you had recently realized that you have grown quite attached to him. However, nothing was going to be done about those feelings. Even though you honestly loved his bright eyes and silky hair. He was not always serious and calm though. Xingqiu, according to himself, has tricked his friend, Chongyun, into eating spicy food many times. Now, you don't know much about Chongyun, but if he had to be tricked into eating something, it's clearly not a dish he enjoys. It's funny how someone could be equally mature and silly. Plus, you had to admit, his constant focus on being chivalrous was admirable. And adorable. You shook your head and began pacing, waiting for him to show up. Just then, a figure appeared in the distance. It was Xingqiu. You called and waved at him. This picnic was going to be fun.

"—Anyway, that's how I felt about the book! What about you, Xingqiu?"

Archons. The love in the way you said his name was enough to make him melt. He decided it was time. It's now or never.

"Actually, there's something else I would like to discuss with you, if that's okay."

You looked at him curiously.

"Of course, what is it, my liege?"

His face grew red at how you picked up his catchphrase. He cleared his throat and stood, hand over heart, to address you.

"Y/N L/N, I am a man of justice and honor. I have loved you from the moment I set my eyes on you, and I hope that this is not the end of our story, but merely of a chapter, as that grants the beginning of a chapter anew. Will you accept my hand and have me as your partner?"

The speech left you stunned, but soon, the formality of it all made you giggle. His face was visibly burning and he coughed awkwardly. Still he stood, hand now extended out. You took it and pulled yourself up from where you were sitting. It was clammy and cold, different from normal, but it fit perfectly. You faced eachother and you slowly smiled.

"It would be an honor to call myself yours, Xingqiu."

Suddenly, you embraced him. You were afraid to let go of this moment. He wrapped his arms around you and you stayed like that for a while, until he loosened his grip and began to pull away.

"Oh, and I forgot about this. Forgive me."

He kissed you swiftly on the cheek before digging a blank journal from a pocket on his coat. You were shocked. The area where he kissed you tingled pleasantly as your jaw hung open. A smile returned to your face. A wave of confidence and adrenaline pumped in your veins.

You grabbed him by the collar, pulled him in, and kissed him softly on the lips.

The action nearly killed you, while he was much better at hiding the dazed happiness he felt. Xingqiu blushed and stammered,

"H-here. Let's begin with this."

Being spontaneous isn't such a bad thing.
