Quinn stared deeply into the eyes of the massive being of pure destruction in front of her, five eevees she hid behind her, and a glaceon next to her who dared not look at the being.
"I'm giving you an option" The umbreon began
"I'd rather kill my children than leave them with you" Quinn spat
"Unfortunate..." the umbreon sighed "they could have become great vessels for the council, but you want to keep them all to yourself"
The glaceon sitting next to Quinn whispered in the espeon's ear "we need to run"
Quinn gulped, she made sure her children were safe behind her "whether vessels or not, they are my children" Quinn hissed as she picked up her children and ran. The sensation that the umbreon was behind then rose with every step, and every breath they took. But Quinn did not dare look back behind her.

Panting and breathing, they had been running for hours, no breaks in between to rest.
"Are we far enough?" Quinn murmured to Wren, the glaceon who was with her
"He won't dare cross into uncharted territory, especially when the territory is most dangerous" Wren responded.
The snow lingered before them, piles that rose to their bellies and some piles that rose to their necks
"Would it be safe?" Quinn asked, cautiously stepping a paw into the small patch of snow
"Better than our children being sacrificed" Wren added, picking up two of the eevees and putting them on his back, while picking up one in his jaw. Quinn followed his actions by picking up two eevees and putting them on her back.
They both stepped into the layered snow, with the storms rapidly and suddenly coming down
"Definitely a dangerous place" Quinn commented, pulling her tail over her children.
The couple wandered through the snow for a few hours now, with every time they took a breaking, needing to suddenly start going again or they would get stuck.
"There's a cave" Wren noted, facing in the direction of a mountain with a small hole leading to a cave when they had reached it.
"It looks inhabited" Quinn commented, identifying the rotten food around the place and the extinguished fire
"If it was, that would have been a long time again
"Can we do something about warmth? There's a campfire here" Quinn asked
"I'll try. You go comfort the children, and take a nap maybe" Wren responded, getting to work attempting to rub sticks together to make a fire.
Quinn turned to her children, and pulled them away in the deeper part of the cave where it wouldn't be as cold.
She curled the eevees up to body, and gently closed her eyes.

Morning arose, and it seemed Wren had managed to make the fire, as warmth filled the cave. Wren was sleeping next to Quinn, and their children were playing at the entrance.
"We never did give them names" Quinn shook Wren awake
"Why don't we do that then?" Wren asked
"I'm not sure how long they'll last" Quinn sighed
"It's better to die with a name than nothing, right?" Wren asked
"Right" Quinn smiled, and nodded her head "Vixen, Zaph for the two smallest ones?"
"Then Fall, Seoph and Ruin" Wren agreed "for the bigger ones and the shiny silver one"
"I should go find some food. Berries?" Wren got up
"Would berries even grow in snow this bad?" Quinn asked
"Anything it is, then" Wren smiled, as he walked off into the heavy snow.
Quinn herself got up too and pulled the eevees away from the entrance

"Where are you?" Quinn mumbled to herself "it's been a week, I don't know how much longer I can go on without you, Wren. I need food.."
"Mama?" Vixen pulled on Quinn's tail "Why do you look so sad?"
Quinn, hasn't realised how bad she had gotten, her skin was wrinkled, and her skin showed her ribs.
"We're hungry" Fall complained
"Mama should eat first when papa returns!" Zaph perked up.
Would it be so bad? Quinn thought to herself Wren isn't returning, and there's no food out in this wasteland. They're going to die anyways

Quinn hadn't realised her actions until she had done them. Her children, lay before her, split apart and eaten. Two remained, and Quinn still felt hungry, her face had blood on it, and three corpses lay in the cave with only broken bones showing.
"Ruin, Fall..." Quinn gulped "don't leave mama. She needs food"
Ruin huddled up next to her brother, fear scared her to the bone
"Fall, I'm scared" Ruin cried
"We need to leave" Fall ran out, pulling Ruin with him.
"Don't leave me!" Quinn cried out "I don't want to be alone.."
"Mama..." Ruin stopped and looked behind her
"We can't make it" Fall admitted defeat "it's too night"
Ruin smacked the ground, causing the snow to cold-pass into one pile, leave them space to walk.
They ran across the ground, fear lingered behind them.
Ruin watched as Fall could barely move any longer, and collapsed. She too, after running a few more minutes, collapsed. Death was within her reach. Her mother had fallen into instantly, and Ruin had watched her eat them alive with no mercy. She had nothing left to lose, she lay there, embracing it.
