Chapter 1:
Beep beep.
“Oh great.” I muttered.
Its 10:00 PM already and there’s still no sign of Eric.
We’ve had this tradition of spending the whole Friday night doing random shit like playing video games or watching movies forever now, and ever since he started dating Amanda he’d been either skipping or arriving at my house really late.
I hated Amanda for that, a lot.
Maybe I should get myself a girlfriend too.
“nah.” I snorted at that thought.
I loathe romantic relationships.
Both Eric and I play first line in lacrosse team; and all of my teammates have girlfriends except for me, I could get one if I want right now, not that I’m bragging but thanks to lacrosse I was in a good physical shape, and I wasn’t bad looking either; I mean based on those girls at my school who keep throwing themselves at me hoping for some kind of attention which I refuse to give, apparently they dig guys with boring blue eyes and dirt blond haired, I always thought it looked boring.
I jolt up in a sitting position as I hear a car’s (obviously Eric’s) engine cut off and doors slamming.
About fucking time.
Rushing downstairs and there’s Eric getting through the front door and-
Whoa, wait a second.
“dude!” I whispered harshly as I tugged his arm towards me.
“what?” He replied innocently as I glared at his sudden companion.
Great, simply great.
Noticing me Eric glanced back and then at me again,
“oh man, I forgot to tell you that I’m bringing Amanda with me, you’re ok with that right?” he said while grabbing her waist and started marching upstairs.
Sighing loudly, I proceed to follow them, and there they are, both laying on my bed like it belongs to them.
“Your room is not as messy as I expected, Steven.” Amanda remarked,
Oh I didn’t need your opinion, bitch.
But of course I can’t say that loudly because Eric will probably punch the life out of his best-friend-since-i-can’t-even-remember for insulting his girlfriend-for-1-month-only.
Apparently he doesn’t live by the “bros before hoes” motto.
----
It’s been only half an hour only and there they are, making out, on my bed.
My bed.
“Eric!” I yell while throwing my PS3 controller at him,
I somehow missed my aim and it fell on the floor.
“I’m sorry, Stevie, couldn’t help it.” He smiles at her and now they’re rubbing each other’s noses.
Wonderful, the last thing I need is watching them being cute and shit.
I never agreed on being a third wheel.
“Well, if you guys will keep doing that, then you’re welcome to leave and lick each other’s faces all you want somewhere else.” I grumbled while switching off the device.
“I’ll take her home then, ok?” Eric got off and with Amanda in tow
“but baby we just arrived here” she took hold of his arm by both hands, Eric should get her out of here because I really can’t stand her.
and that's where she turned her head towards me and i might be imagining ti but i swear she winked at me.
“let’s go” he was rather harsh with that command, I followed them downstairs and before I closed the front door Eric grumbled a “don’t lock the front door”
I stared at his back and managed to grunt a “don’t bother” at him.
“don’t. lock. the. door”
And that was the last thing he said before his car stormed off the streets.
---
“hey, Stevie.”
I actually was startled enough to fall from my office chair onto the ground.
“dude! Can you at least knock first?!” I batted the hand he offered to help me get up,
I’m no girl, thank you very much.
“are you ok?” he laughed, sitting at the floor next to me.
“oh just wonderful!” I attempted to give him my best poker face, but I failed so badly, he was laughing and god, he looked so peaceful, I couldn’t help but smile at that.
That bastard, he’s got a devastatingly pretty face; that most of the girls at our school were so jealous of, golden green eyes with awfully long lashes, once you look at you can help but stare, perfectly cut brown hair, perfect teeth, perfect smile, everything is just perfect about him.
I lived with him almost my entire life and I assure you he was never flawed, and I’m not going to lie, I sometimes feel jealous but I try my hardest not let that show; our friendship meant everything to me.
“hey, I, um, I’m sorry about tonight, Amanda insisted on coming, and I couldn’t-”
“oh of course, Amanda always comes first, even if it means breaking our Friday night hang out routine” I rolled my eyes at him.
“come on Stevie, she’s my girlfriend! And- just-, look I’ll make it up for you ok? I swear” he sighed.
“2 out of 3? Black ops?” I throw a controller at him and he grabbed it while shaking his head with a smirk on his face
“man, you’re way too easy to please”
“nah it’s just for you” I bumped our shoulders a little too roughly as we started to consume what’s left of the night.
