Most Saturdays River was working at a run-down cafe in town, however today she got off because of the storm coming in. The girl knew the effects of a storm like this were usually no power, which is exactly why she was on her way to the only book store in Outerbanks. She hated being called a bookworm or nerd. She was neither... She just liked a good book and cared about grades that's all.Her curls damped from the slight rain that began to fall, making her walk faster to the entrance. The bell above the door rang, and River smiled. That sound always sent a spill of comfort through her veins."Hey, Stevie." She smiled at the old man who owned the small book store. He smiled back, opening his newspaper. "Got a new pile for you in the back, I was cleaning out. they're all yours." Stevie took a sip of his coffee before watching the girl scurry to the back of the store. What she didn't know was the storm had picked causing a group of teens to run into the library. "Holy shit man!" The blonde yelled."Language," Stevie spoke still not looking up to greet the group. "I think we lost them..." Pope spoke next. Eventually, the group realized they were in the one place in obx they'd never seen before. "This is a lim-" River stopped suddenly, hardly ever seeing anyone else her age in the store, let alone the pogues. All eyes were on her, but hers were on his."Riley is it?" JJ asked, making the girl even more annoyed with his presence. "River." She responded blandly. Suddenly a tree falling outside caught all of their attention. "Damn it's getting bad out there," Kiara mumbled, before turning back to River. "You think we could chill here while it passes?"It felt wrong to say no to her. She had no problem with the rest of them, it would be rude to send them out during a hurricane. River glanced over to Stevie who knew all about her hatred for the blonde. He let out a small laugh before speaking. "Fine by me." Almost immediately the group of four started looking around the small store. Making river contort in annoyance. She hated clutter. She hated people messing with organized things. The old man came up behind her, patting her head lightly, indicating he was heading upstairs, where he lived. River always loved his life, living above a book store he owned, with a view to the ocean, and endless books."It's just books...come on man I'm bored!" JJ whined. "Let's play a game!" He continued. The girl let out a laugh, still looking down at her book. Her hair was slightly on her face. "Hey, bookworm come to play." She tried to find a logical reason why he never shuts up. "please River?" Pope spoke. To her surprise they all knew who she was, having grown up around each other. River sighed quietly before sitting next to the brunette boy.
